Meet Abbey Schwindt of FORT WORTH

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abbey Schwindt

Hi Abbey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Travel is something I dreamed of as a child and made a priority as I grew older, turning every opportunity into a cherished adventure with family and friends. Having the opportunity to explore and immerse yourself in other cultures is what gives me great joy in booking vacations. While I have other career pursuits, I am a licensed cosmetologist by day. I wanted to find a fantastic opportunity to combine my two passions: using my travel expertise to help brides plan their destination weddings, while also providing on-location hair and makeup services. So that is really what intrigued me to get started in the travel advisor world.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been an easy journey. Like starting anything new, there have been a lot of trials and errors. Luckily being a part of Nova Vacations, I am surrounded by many amazing advisors that are very knowledgeable and amazing resources! My job involves building strong relationships, not only with destination resources but also earning the trust of my clients. They rely on me to curate the perfect vacation, wedding, honeymoon, or special event for them.

This role requires a significant investment of time and effort to develop the knowledge necessary to plan dream vacations. It means dedicating time to learning the ins and outs of booking and tailoring each experience. On top of that, promoting myself, especially through social media, is essential to showcase my abilities and attract new clients.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m proud to have two passions that seamlessly complement each other, two careers that drive my creativity and are filled with excitement. In the hair world, I specialize in lived-in color and haircuts, which ties closely to how I approach booking client vacations. Both involve tailoring an experience to meet my clients’ desires, while adding my touch of ease and relaxation.I take pride in listening to the details, but I’m also honest when I feel certain styles or plans might not be the best fit. Whether in my salon chair or planning an adventure, my goal is always to help people feel their absolute best.

What are your plans for the future?
My future plan is to elevate the combination of destination weddings with onsite hair and makeup services. I started my hair career at a young age and have explored many different paths—working as an educator, doing fashion week and editorial hair, and now being self-employed. While all of these experiences have been thrilling, something still felt missing. I believe that gap can be filled by combining my love of travel with the joy of being part of my clients’ special day.

Being someone they can rely on, not just for hair and makeup but also as someone familiar with the destination, would be incredibly fulfilling. Helping brides achieve their dream look while being in the location of their dreams is exactly the direction I want to take my career. I look forward to being part of many more weddings, creating beauty behind the chair and in the perfect setting.
