Hi Ace, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Tyler, Texas, on my family’s land. Back then, Tyler was a quiet town, not a place people came to build or pursue anything. But I’ve always known I wanted to be my own boss. Working for someone else never sat right with me, and I wasn’t the type to settle for a regular job.
In 2017, I packed up and moved to Dallas-Fort Worth. I had nothing but a drive to make something happen. I crashed on couches, bounced around, and did whatever it took to get my foot in the door.
I worked for a few glass companies along the way, learning how the business works, how to market it, and what it takes to succeed. It wasn’t glamorous, but it gave me the blueprint for what I wanted to build.
In 2023, I teamed up with Halie Castaneda to start The Glass Co. She’s been the backbone of everything we do, and I wouldn’t be here without her. We focus on everything glass: storefronts, shower glass, mirrors, window replacements, vinyl windows, and more. From day one, we’ve been all about quality and doing the job right.
We started with $800 and a leap of faith. Now, this business has changed my life. It’s no longer just a paycheck—it’s my passion. It’s opened doors for me and my family in ways I couldn’t have imagined. I’m proof that with hard work, determination, and a little risk, you don’t need anyone’s help to make it happen.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely hasn’t been the smoothest. I’ve been homeless, hungry, cold. But i never gave up.
