Today we’d like to introduce you to Addy Moore.
Addy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up in New York/New Jersey as a little girl, I was raised around lots of women who knew how to do hair. One woman, in particular, my mom. I remember watching every detail and every moment and practicing on anything or anyone I could get my hands on.
As I entered into my teenage years, it became second nature to me when friends and family would ask me to do there hair for events, parties, etc… you name it, I was doing It. But it never dawned on me to turn my passion and talent into a career.
Once I graduated from Temple University with my Bachelor in Business Administration (core focus: law and business), my plans post grad was to attend law school at Georgetown University. Upon graduating, my plans had changed and I ended up back at mom and dads house living in Texas.
I’m an organizer, I love making plans and sticking to them. So, when I decided that I wanted to take a break from school, I was burnt out. My train of thought was all over the place. I felt lost, unhappy, depressed, an emotional wreck.
I then met my boyfriend Tai, who is now my husband and biggest supporter who encouraged me to take a leap out on faith and start planning for my career as a hairstylist.
It was not easy, as I feverishly started researching my options. I knew in order to be the best, I have to work with the best. That is when I met my mentor, big sister, & friend Khristian. I became an assistant working closely with her as I learned the business detail for detail while attending night school at Paul Mitchell The School Dallas. Once I completed my hours. The rest is history!!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
With every journey, you run into a few bumps and bruises along the way but it has managed to make me stronger than ever.
I remember completing my hours at school. Failing the written test twice. And finding out I was pregnant with my first child while taking my practical. I had a small clientele built up but I was very unsure of how or where I would start my hair journey.
My almighty is amazing though! He proved to me that any and everything is possible when you believe. I interviewed with several salons in my area and managed to start my career at Modern Luxe Salon in Frisco, TX as a booth rent stylist.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is a daily grind. My success is not measured by materialistic things or finances. Success is growth knowing that I’m reminded of where I was and where I am going. Progress versus digress.
