Today, we’d like to introduce you to Adrianna Martinez. Adrianna was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Rocky Garza.
Hi Adrianna, we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started doing hair when I was 19. I didn’t know what I wanted to do our of high school and thought doing hair would be fun till I figured it out. I ended up loving it! I love being part of the confidence boost people get after they get their hair done. Straight out of school I worked for Toni & Guy. I started as an apprentice and eventually worked my way to an educator and technical director. After leaving T&G I worked for a few smaller Dallas salons and that’s where I realized I wanted to own my own salon.
I eventually went to college for my own personal growth but ultimately stayed in the beauty industry. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t love what I do. Growing people and learning how to run a business has brought me a new level of fulfillment.
I am an entrepreneur at heart. In 2019 my husband David and I opened Lucky Mouth Grocery in bishop arts. I split my time between the store and the salon. Now I get to share my other passion (snacks) with people.
Please tell us more about your brand, Revel Workshop
Revel workshop opened in 2016. My goal for the salon was to create a space where we all support each other and help each other grow while providing a luxury experience for our clients. As I have grown in my career my priorities have shifted to growing the next generation of hairdressers. I created a program where we train on technical skills, work/life balance and financial coaching. I am passionate about helping people live a good life and thriving in their careers. In all the salons I have worked at I never had a boss that was invested in my growth and I wanted to be that for someone. Lucky Mouth Grocery is a plant-based grocery store. We focus on specialty items made by small business all around the world. We love helping people learn how to incorporate plant-based options into their diets. We also host small events at the store like wine and cheese nights.
Rocky Garza has been great to us and I know you’ve got a great relationship with them as well. Maybe you can tell our audience a bit about your experience with Rocky.
I met Rocky through mutual friends. At the time I was just opening Revel and knew I needed some guidance. I was new to managing people and running a business. I met with Rocky for a consultation and knew immediately he was the coach for me! He was understanding and got me hyped up to be a human. I signed up for his identity mapping and monthly coaching. During identity mapping, he helped me find my salon’s core values as well as my personal values. It showed me my purpose and why I do what I do. We use our salon values every day. This is how we course-correct and celebrate achievements. Every decision I make for the salon is based on those values.
During our monthly coaching, he would help me work through obstacles I had at the salon. I always left his office with an action plan and the confidence I needed to follow through.
On a personal level, Rocky has helped me have better communication overall and connect in my marriage. Most of all he has helped me not feel ashamed of being a blunt/honest person. I am a better boss and friend because of the work I did with Rocky.
Rocky has a way of finding and highlighting your strengths. He is a great listener and remembers everything! He truly cares about the people he is helping. I am fortunate to call him a friend!
