Meet AdriAnne Headen, Rosalyn Callahan of The FLT Publishing Company DBA The Writer’s Television

Today we’d like to introduce you to AdriAnne Headen, Rosalyn Callahan.

Hi AdriAnne Headen, Rosalyn Callahan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The Writer’s Television, operated under FLT Publishing Company LLC, is an OTT (Over-The-Top) and VOD (Video on Demand) streaming platform based in Irving, Texas. Built by women of color with a vision for all people, our mission has always been to champion diverse storytelling by elevating independent voices that often go unheard. In a saturated entertainment space, we created something rare—a network where filmmakers, poets, animators, authors, and storytellers from around the world could find a home.

Our platform hosts seven curated channels on Roku, FireStick, Apple TV, Android TV, and across mobile apps on iPhone and Android. Each channel reflects a specific creative discipline—Author Interviews, Independent Film, Mystery/Paranormal, Poetry, Theatre, International Film, and Children’s Animation. We offer both paid subscriptions and ad-supported content, allowing access for everyone while still supporting the artists behind the work.

What sparked this journey was the noticeable gap in the film industry—especially for up-and-coming creatives who lacked access to mainstream platforms. We had firsthand experience watching incredibly talented filmmakers struggle to break through, despite the quality of their work. At the same time, we recognized how major platforms like Netflix had reshaped the distribution landscape, yet left little room for truly independent artistry.

Launching The Writer’s Television wasn’t easy. The doors didn’t open automatically. We faced countless setbacks—financial, technical, and institutional. There was no blueprint, no big investors, and very little external support. We bootstrapped everything. Whether that meant delivering food, selling unused items, or dipping into savings, we did whatever was necessary to bring this vision to life.

We equipped ourselves through formal education and real-world experience—earning degrees, completing executive courses through institutions like Harvard Business School Online, and training in everything from HR to media production. We protected our intellectual property, built infrastructure, and focused on assembling a team that shares our mission.

Even now, in 2025, the challenges are real. The film industry is evolving rapidly. Independent creators face shrinking budgets, algorithm-driven gatekeeping, and a rising tide of AI-generated content that often sidelines authentic human storytelling. It’s harder than ever to break through the noise. But we remain steadfast in our mission. Our goal is not just to survive in this space—but to thrive and create a legacy platform where underrepresented creatives are not only seen but celebrated.

The Writer’s Television is more than a streaming service—it’s a movement. A digital stage where real stories can be told, preserved, and shared on our own terms.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been anything but smooth—and truthfully, we’re still climbing. From the beginning, we faced resistance at nearly every turn. Support was scarce, and while some were willing to offer help, it often came with conditions that required surrendering full control of our vision. That was never an option. As founders, we weren’t willing to compromise the integrity of what we were building just to move faster.

There were moments when doors closed not because of the quality of our work or our ambition, but because of who we are. Some opportunities disappeared the moment people realized we were African American women leading this company. Others dangled promises, only to walk away with vague excuses. The industry often celebrates diversity in theory, but it rarely makes room for it in decision-making.

So, we did what we had to do—we got resourceful. Whether it meant taking on side hustles, selling unused items, or pulling from personal savings, we invested in ourselves. Every inch of progress was earned with grit and determination. And while we’re proud of how far we’ve come, we’re even more focused on what’s ahead.

What we’ve built stands as proof that vision, creativity, and resilience can outlast rejection. And that’s the energy we’re bringing into every next step.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The FLT Publishing Company DBA The Writer’s Television?
The Writer’s Television is more than just a streaming platform—it’s a creative ecosystem built for storytellers by storytellers. As a digital home for independent films, stage plays, animations, and author interviews, we’ve created a space where artistry thrives and diversity is celebrated. Our platform serves as a launchpad for filmmakers, screenwriters, poets, and animators who are ready to share their work with the world but often lack access to traditional distribution channels.

What sets us apart is our deep commitment to storytelling from the ground up. We don’t just stream content—we cultivate it. One of the most unique aspects of our platform is our dedication to the voices behind the stories. We’re the only movie streaming platform that interviews authors and creators, allowing viewers to connect with the person behind the project. This personal touch fosters a rare sense of intimacy and authenticity in an industry that can often feel impersonal.

We specialize in transforming literary works into powerful films. Many of the films on our platform originated as books from emerging authors—brought to life through our in-house creative development process. We’re passionate about taking stories that might otherwise go unnoticed and turning them into something unforgettable.

Our brand is grounded in fearless creativity and resilience. We’ve built this platform from the ground up, often with limited resources, but with limitless vision. What we’re most proud of is our ability to take what others might overlook—raw ideas, untapped talent, overlooked voices—and shape it into something meaningful and impactful. That’s the heart of The Writer’s Television.

As we continue to grow, we are actively seeking partnerships with theater programs, art schools, colleges, and creatives who want to learn how to write stage plays, dive into content creation, or develop skills in film editing. We offer workshops, educational experiences, and real-world platforms for creators to grow and be seen.

We want readers to know that The Writer’s Television is open to new voices. If you’re a filmmaker, writer, animator, or creative visionary looking for a platform that believes in your work as much as you do, we welcome you. Here, your story matters—and we’re here to help you tell it.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Relentless determination has been one of the most vital qualities in our journey toward success. It’s the kind of mindset that refuses to be swayed by doubt or outside opinions. You have to be unshakable—firm enough to tune out the noise and ignore the voices that say it can’t be done. Success requires the confidence to stay focused on your vision, even when the path is unclear and the support is minimal. It’s not about arrogance—it’s about unwavering belief in the mission, and the discipline to keep going, no matter what.
