Today we’d like to introduce you to Alba Hatcher.
Alba, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was in martial arts for 11 years, taught it for six, and was in dance for seven years. Shortly after I got married, I found myself having gained 60 pounds. I got my start at an all women’s gym. I started only as a dance instructor and found myself working full-time at the front desk. Every day, I’d have ladies coming in asking me how do I work out this, what is best for this result, what should I be eating, and I would look at myself and say why are you asking me? Haha, at this point, I was still overweight. BUT, I wanted to have answers for these ladies so I started as a certified personal trainer the Cooper Institute. Obviously, if I wanted to be able to help other people, I had to be able to help myself first. I took six months, lost the weight and immediately got myself biomechanics.
Being in the gym, setting before I became a trainer allowed me to see the difference between the good and the bad, it gave me a direction to go and it’s what formed my whole career. Biomechanics changed the way I think about personal training, and I wish every personal trainer would take that course because they probably wouldn’t do half the stupid things they do with their clients. Biomechanics got me into Ortho-Kinetics which literally means “correct-movement” and helps bridge the gap between physical therapy and performance. What Ortho-Kinetics is best known for is its comprehensive assessment. I completion of this course I often times could see exactly what was wrong with a muscle system or joint, but couldn’t legally do anything about it. The knowledge I gained in anatomy and muscle systems inspired me to go back to school and become a licensed bodywork therapist. It was perfect! I went to massage school with a very specific and dedicated direction which allowed me to focus on corrective therapies.
Now, I combine my skill sets or manual therapy and corrective exercise to work with people who have had previous injuries, surgeries or just have pain. It’s a blessing that I get to change the lives of others not only in how they look and feel but in the memories they make and the difference THEY got to make, accomplishing what they never thought possible!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Like any business owner, there’s a certain amount of doubts that take place. If you’re doing the right thing in marketing and sharing, there are days that it takes away from your family, and there are days that it’s just hard. Hard to have that pure direction and decisions, it can be overwhelming at times but the difference you make in peoples lives makes it all worth it. I could sacrifice my time for something meaningless or I can be exactly as I am, doing what I love, and doing what is creating generational effects.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Trainer In PINK llc – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Trainer In PINK offers a number of health and wellness all targeted towards rehabilitation and corrective practices. Having multiple trainers in addition to myself widens our areas of expertise which we strive to reach for each individual. The trainer’s passions, educational backgrounds and expertise range from core stability, Pilates, varying specialty’s for seniors, and so much more, plus, each of the trainers have their own story which becomes especially valuable to reaching our clients in a personal and emotional level. We treat each of our clients as if they are a member of our own family, pouring our heart, sharing our knowledge and being there every step of the way!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Oh, good one! I am currently working a manner in which to make our corrective exercise practices available online. It’s not the same as in the person, of course, but I find that the current standard of exercise practices available to the public is substandard. Not a day goes by that someone on Facebook, YouTube, and other avenues are teaching the exercises incorrectly or have an expectation that is overreaching for many people. I want to be a part of what helps bridge the gap between medical movement/exercise and fitness.
