Meet Albert Rodriguez of Peak Boxing Fitness in Gyms across DFW

Today we’d like to introduce you to Albert Rodriguez.

Albert, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I first put on a pair of boxing gloves at the age of ten and two weeks later, I was competing in my first amateur tournament. I can honestly say that since that time, my life and career have always involved boxing. For me, boxing and family were completely connected as my dad was my coach and my brothers all competed as well. I boxed as an amateur for much of my childhood and went pro at the age of 19. When my son was born, that connection of boxing to family remained as I would enter the ring mentally dedicating those fights and the training to my son. I had a successful professional career and eventually started Peak Boxing Fitness – a business centered on inspiring clients to think about a boxer’s training as a way to achieve overall fitness goals.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As is the case with many professional athletes, it was not an easy decision to know when to move from competing to a career centered in training others. I began to teach boxing fitness classes and working with individual clients and the satisfaction of seeing them make progress – all while leveraging the fundamentals of boxing – had me hooked. I opened my Peak Boxing Fitness business as a way of being able to reach as many people as possible and allow them to see that their fitness goals are only the beginning of what can be achieved.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We hold classes, boot camps, individual training sessions And large boxing fitness events… And no experience is ever required! I have a regular schedule at some local gyms and also host large boxing fitness events where I partner with businesses and also bring in local boxers to help connect the boxing fitness world to the world of boxing. Clients talk about how they have learned to do things they never thought they could do and the impact it has also had on their mind and spirit. We have active social media sites on FB and IG and connect with people everywhere – sharing information about boxing, well-being, classes and upcoming events.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I sometimes think back to those early days boxing in my neighborhood boxing club in McKinney. I do feel blessed to have grown up in a boxing family and to be a part of the boxing world still today. I hope to continue to bring excitement about boxing fitness and grow the love for the sport.
