Meet Albert and LeVonne Wilhite of Walk the Talk Ministries in DeSoto

Today we’d like to introduce you to Albert and LeVonne Wilhite.

Albert and LeVonne, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Well, we started out serving in various church plants in the Dallas area with some pastor friends of ours for several years. The Lord’s calling has been on us to start our own ministry… and in 2018, Lady LeVonne was asked to attend a Women’s Conference by a friend of ours in January of that year, This led to a fortuitous meeting – or so she thought – and one of the guest speakers happened to be Sylvia St. John Martinez (or “Sammi G” as she’s known in radio), who has 30 years of radio broadcasting experience working with everyone from Kidd Kraddick to Tom Joyner.

After introductions were made, Sammi gives Lady LeVonne her card to contact her. After some more prodding from the Lord, we finally set up a meeting to talk with Sammi, who has the first of its kind internet radio station, Fishbowl Radio Network, that is now going on 11 yrs. After a two hour meeting with her, we ended up with our very own radio podcast. In the midst of the discussions, the name for our podcast AND ministry was birthed… Walk the Talk Ministries, “Where we just don’t TALK about it, we BE about it.” So on February 21, 2018, we launched our very first internet radio podcast.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There were some nervousness and apprehension about being on the radio and sharing our faith and wondering if we were going to make an impact, or if we would even BE impactful… on the very first podcast, I almost froze and couldn’t find my words JUST when we went live on air. Lady LeVonne looked at me like, “You BET NOT!” But I came back and it went off without a hitch.

The MAIN struggle we had was launching our OWN ministry. Lady LeVonne kept after me and after me about starting the ministry, and she even hit me with, “The Lord said…” In all actuality, SHE was more nervous than I about launching our own ministry because we’ve up to this point have been in supportive, helping and aiding roles to our pastor friends’ ministries, – and WE were just fine with that! Yes, we had our trepidation about stepping out for ourselves and there were so many questions that needed to be answered. We immediately took them to the Lord in prayer. We wanted to make sure that we were serving the Lord first, and then the people with great content as well as to be sure it was what God wanted us to speak about. So, we layout before the Lord in prayer for “what thus said the Lord” before every show and we seek what’s on the Lord’s heart. And the Lord promised us that he would always be there…”Just open your mouth,” He said, “and I will speak through you.” He promised to meet us in the room every time. And He has YET to let us down.

Walk the Talk Ministries – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The premise of our podcast and ministry is that we seek to inform, inspire, educate, uplift, and encourage people with real-life testimonials and real-world experiences geared towards taking you higher in your Christian walk… all while having fun. We have discovered that transparency is key. So when you WALK THE TALK in excellence and it’s not a game but a lifestyle, others will follow and souls will have been won for the Kingdom.

To put it another way, we want people to know and to understand that living a Christian/Godly life and lifestyle is going to require that you get dirty sometimes, that you’re going to go through some things, you’re going to have some hardships, some rough and tough times, some deep in the valley experiences; you will also have some good times, some happy and joyous times and even some mountain top experiences… but through it all, even though we’re a Pastor/First Lady and Life Coaches, we want people to know that we hurt, we bleed, we suffer and go through just like they do; we’re the same as they are and have the same problems, cares and concerns as they do… every day isn’t coming up roses nor is it peachy keen. The difference is that we have a Lord and Savior by the name of Jesus Christ who is not only WITH us in it all, but he sees us THROUGH it all.

We practice what we preach in that we are very transparent about what we struggle with, where we fall short, and where our faith sometimes may falter all while having fun and being able to not only laugh at our struggles but to tell others how JESUS got us through it, as well as Him getting on us… and our audience loves us for being authentic, for us laughing at one another as well as together; how they see us as a united front and in how we deliver the Word of God in a practical manner where they’re able to not only understand it but apply God’s principles in THEIR lives. THAT’S the satisfaction we get from what we do.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
We can say that outside of our usual cheerleaders consisting of family members – with special thanks going to my parents Bedford and Faye Wilhite, loved ones and friends – another special thanks goes to our friend and sis Prophetess Tyshja Vassor of Long Island, NY. We can’t forget our special friendship with the beautiful couple of Minister Tim and Lady Ronica McDonald who hold a special place in our hearts, along with our POWERFUL discussions around ‘The Table.’ We can say that we’ve had a tremendous backing and support from our friends, who were also our Pastors…and that’s Senior Pastor/Pastor Kenneth and Crystal Tolbert of Restored IV Purpose Ministries, whose motto is “we love you where you are and  push you to your purpose.” They’ve been loving as well as pushing and pushing and pushing us to be at the spiritual level where we’re at now so that we can be effective for the people we will have charge over.

As a matter of fact, they’re the ones who told us that we were only supposed to be with them for two years before we branched out to launch our own ministry… it took US four years! But we appreciate and love them for being faithful and committed to their job as faith leaders so that we could be and do the same for the next people under our charge.
