Meet Alex Aguilar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Aguilar.

Alex, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started in 2018 when I decided to do photography since I’d love capturing images of landscapes and people. It wasn’t until the following months of 2019 that I became more serious about it. Thanks to the support and motivation from a friend that I had from a previous job during that time, I begin to practice my photography skills—learning how to set a camera, lighting, edit, and improve my images; everything was going great until the lockdown hit. I was getting fewer to no calls for a photo shoot; this really took a big toll on me that I begin to look for another job and an education that will lead me to a stable workplace. During the pandemic, I begin to lose my passion for photography; it wasn’t until I begin to look back on the photos that I took that looking at the happy faces of people reminded me how happy I was taking their photos. Then it was decided, after two and a half years of hibernation, I will bring Meyou Photos back to its feet!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was a pretty rocky road, especially during the pandemic and the lockdowns that led me and other small-owned businesses to close their doors and never open again. It really put me through sadness that knowing I’ll never do photography again and just seeing it as a fun hobby.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Photographer. I do Portrait/Couple, Graduation, and Cosplay Photography. I am also good at editing in lightroom and photoshop; practice my skills till I perfected them. I’ve recently decided to expand more into Cosplay Photography since I love anime and admire the talented people who cosplay.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
The biggest risk is coming back to photography, knowing I have to start all over, and leaving everything behind, including my job. But that’s how it is when taking risks to seek your passion and sticking to it. I will try my hardest to make this work again
