Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandria Carr.
Alexandria, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always been creative since I was a child. Poetry was my thing, and as I got older short stories intertwined with that. However, creating stories or scripts was never a passion of mine until 2017! That’s when things all changed, in a good way, though. A local urban pride party promoter had made a status on Facebook, suggesting that the LGBTQ community start their web series. She had no clue what to do or how to start, so she requested writers, actors, directors etc.. I was tagged a few times on the status and instantly became intrigued. I agreed to do the writing & that is done! After a few months after casting and releasing the scripts to the actors, the entire project was handed to me. So I wasn’t in charge of JUST writing. I instantly became a director & producer. At this point I was overwhelmed, I had NO clue what I was doing but the universe said yes & now we’re in the process of releasing season 2.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I wish I could say yes, but I’ll have to say no. Not knowing what I was doing at first was a huge struggle in the beginning. To this day, I’m still learning. On top of that, locations pulling away last minute or actors dropping out was hard. Having to rewrite the script multiple times or rearrange things last minute to make it work was overwhelming. TIME was a huge one as well! You couldn’t have told me that it would take 3 hours to film a 2-5 minute conversation! Lol, we quickly learned being to set on time was a must!!
Please tell us about the company.
Scandalous Tales is under Rihality Ent, which is a small production company I put together in Oklahoma City. I’m a writer, director, actress, creator, and all in all, lover of all arts. I’m proud of finishing our season 1 and 2 cause there were times where I didn’t think it would happen! I think the biggest thing that sets me apart from others is the rawness. It’s real, and so many people can relate. Rather you are in the LGBTQ community or not. The stories I’m telling are meant to be heard. I want people to watch Scandalous Tales and identify with someone that looks like them.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have done .pre production correctly; that way, we could have done marketing correctly! It would have also been a lot more organized!
