Meet Alexis Samone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Samone.

At the age of six, Alexis Samone was given a classic upright piano by godmother. Not knowing of the gifts she possessed, Ms. Samone held off on playing with the gift of composing music and she continued to write poems that ultimately ended up being songs. At the tender age of 15, Alexis joined a gospel band and it was here, her gift was tapped in to and she began to practice her stage presence. She taught herself to play music from YouTube, starting with classical music. Her most idolized performer, Ludwig Von Beethoven, was the main influence to her style of playing. At the age of 18, Alexis was invited to BET’s 106&Park to sing as a solo act on Wild Out Wednesday. Today, Alexis Samone continues to be an underground force and the world’s upcoming RnB/Pop Soloist.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely has not been a smooth road. After my accomplishments with BET and Six Flags, I went off to college and of course, it was extremely difficult keeping up with music and with college courses. In 2013, I got into a car accident that nearly destroyed my vocal folds due to the sudden burst of screams that I broke out into. My back was also injured and I was forced to wear a neck brace for quite some time. I stopped singing and that delayed my career. It was hard pushing myself forward and to keep singing but it happened. I’m singing and even better I’m starting my acting career.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Alexis Samone – what should we know?
I am a singer, songwriter, and actress. I’m most known for playing the piano and singing simultaneously. I’m proud of my accomplishment in singing. I went from being on stage at BET 106 & Park to being on The Voice Season 14. What I do differently is I not only sing but I am a poet so a lot of the times, my songs are very wordy and they mean something different depending on my emotions when writing the project. I focus on what’s real and what hurts. I focus on what feels good. Love feels good and it’s also painful. Going out feels good but can also be dangerous. There are so many areas to music and I wanna touch on every aspect of it.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My parents deserve a lot of credit. My mom who has been my cheerleader from day one and my dad, well, he is the inspiration behind my music. He brought me up to put a story into every song I write. He taught me how to use my ear to hear and feel the music.
