Aliasghar, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born and raised in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Moved to America when I was 18 years to attend Northeastern University to do my degree in Pharmacy. I graduated in 2001 with Honors and started my career as a Pharmacist with Albertsons. I love what I do, and because of my passion for pharmacy and care for my patients, it pushed me to move forward and open my own pharmacy.
Harmony Pharmacy opened its doors August 2017. It’s amazing to meet new people and become not only their pharmacist but also their friend.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s never a smooth road. Obstacles will always be there; just need to figure out how to overcome them. After opening our doors in August, it has been a slow process of getting patients through the door. Patients are used to going to the pharmacies they have been, so its a struggle to pull them in and gain their trust. I assure you that the care and service you will receive from our pharmacy is fast, courteous, and professional.
Harmony Pharmacy – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Harmony Pharmacy is a compounding retail pharmacy provider. Three things that set us apart from our competitors: compounding, customer service, and cost. We specialize in non-sterile compounding including hormone replacement therapy, pain, dermatology, and veterinary.
I have 16 years of pharmacy experience. I personally make sure that we offer great, friendly, and fast customer services. We do everything we can to make sure the patients leave happy, confident and educated with the medicine they are receiving. We offer curbside assistance and free delivery to our nearby patients.
My objective is to offer competitive prices. We offer free medicines. We have a generic list of $2.99, $5.00 and $10.00. With these prices, who wouldn’t want to come by and check us out. Sometimes with the bigger pharmacies, such as CVS and Walgreens, they tend to mark up some medicine. Because customers are used to going to the larger retailers, they never question the cost. They think that everywhere they will get charged the same – wrong! Customers should try to price match. We will price match and give the best prices we can be compared to the big guys.
What sets us apart from others – happy customers! When I see patients coming back and giving us feedback on our customer service and care, it puts the biggest smile on my face! That is when I know I am doing something right for the people who have put so much trust in me.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is achieving your dream. At this moment in my life, I have obtained success in becoming a pharmacist, having my own business and loving what I do. My success is clear when I help my patients and they are 100% satisfied.
For the future, I want to continue what I do and continue having satisfied customers. These satisfied customers refer their friends and families to come to me and that, in itself, is my success. The ability to gain trust from not just one patient, but many patients.
