Meet Alicia Cunningham of Tune’s World

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Cunningham.

Alicia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Everyone knows me by Tune. I’ve been living in Dallas my whole life. I’ve been on the music scene since 2014 just hitting local events or big concerts such as Tyler The Creator, Lil Wayne, Chief Keef, etc. After going to these local events, I would think to myself “I want to throw something people would enjoy and remember.” I tried to throw my first show the summer of 2017. I had no experience with this and they took me as a joke. I was going to throw it at a skatepark but I only got to choose two friends to add to the skateparks lineup. I was excited either way it went.

Sadly the day I was supposed to have the show, it rained and we had to cancel. We tried to do it a different day but it rained again and I never talked to the skatepark again. A year later, I went to a friend of a friend’s first showcase and that’s where I met Jon, my team member of Good Game Talent. Since then, I’ve worked on 6 of my own shows and many others with people around Dallas. I hope to create experiences people can enjoy. I want to find every creative possible in Dallas. I don’t want creatives to have to pay for a slot to perform. If you really like someone’s music or art, you will support them either way it goes.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
So far it’s been a little bit of both. A few struggles include people trying to get over on me because I’m a female. In the music industry, females are taken lightly but I make sure they feel me every time. It’s also hard dealing with artist and their ego’s. Other than those small bumps, It’s been fun and exciting for the most part.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about TUNE’S WORLD – what should we know?
Tune’s World are shows I throw every other month. I usually come up with who I want to use a few months before from doing my research on the artist or vendor. June 22nd will be my 6th Tune’s World and all together my 8th show I’ve put together. I try to make sure everyone has the best time by checking on them throughout the show, checking to see if the environment is also still safe and free. This May made it a year since I’ve been putting these shows together. I’n greatly for everyone I’ve met so far. Dallas has so many hidden gems and I just want to make sure they are heard and appreciated. I have some of the most versatile lineups including the artists and vendors. I just want my shows to be remembered as a positive experience. I want the artists to know I genuinely enjoy their music. Many shows make artists pay for slots to perform and don’t really do it for the artists. I do this for every Dallas artist who think no one is listening.. Trust me I am.

Good Game Talent includes myself, my friends Jon, Tyler, Redstone, and Alex. We specialize in creatives of all kind. What sets us apart from others is that we care about the artist more than anything. We don’t have them pay for promotion, we promote because we genuinely see their talent and what they can bring to Dallas. I’m proud of us because this all started just a year ago. We built a friendship and business relationship that I hope takes us further than we already are.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My positive attitude sets me apart from a lot of people. I’m also a people person. Everything I do is genuine and I want the same from anyone I deal with. My drive and attitude is very important to my success.
