Meet Alisha Patterson of Trinity Groves

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alisha Patterson

Hi Alisha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started when I decided to share my skincare journey on social media. I struggled with acne for years, but I created a routine that looked promising and documented the process. When you have acne, it doesn’t just affect your skin, it also takes a toll on your self esteem. Knowing how this feels, I just wanted to share my tips to help anyone else who suffers from it, and show my face unfiltered to the world so the next person will feel encouraged to show theirs, flaws and all. I had no intention of going viral, but when I woke up the next morning, I saw that the video blew up! It felt so good to receive such great feedback, so I started sharing the rest of my daily practices and habits to continue helping others. Now I cover not only skincare, but also health, self love, home decor, art, really everything that I enjoy and makes me who I am, that could also inspire, help, or encourage someone else! Soon I started receiving requests for collaborations, partnerships, and sponsorships, and things just took off from there.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road definitely has had some bumps along the way! When you decide to become a content creator, you also agree to wear a ton of other hats. It’s like you’re a producer, writer, creative director, photographer, videographer, editor, marketing manager, analyst, and MORE! The positions that most people hire a team to fulfill are all filled by you alone. You’re a one person team. It gets a little overwhelming at times, but honestly, I wouldn’t rather be doing anything else. It’s definitely true that when you leave a 9-5 to become an entrepreneur, you work 24/7. There are a lot of long days and nights of filming, editing, and studying, but when you’re doing something you genuinely enjoy and feel passionate about, it’s no hassle. I’ve received my share of backlash from others with concerns for security when it comes to my finances and stability when it comes to my future, but I’ve learned to tune it out. Truth is, no career is secure. People get laid off from corporate jobs all the time. A company can randomly no longer see a position as valuable and get rid of it. There’s a risk no matter what you choose to do. So I just choose what makes me happy and gets me excited. All these rules people try to shove into your brain about how life goes are fake! Do what you want. Do what your heart is telling you. I love trying new things. I love starting over. I love taking leaps. I love learning. There hasn’t been a single moment when I regretted my decision to create content full time. I feel like as long as you’re being true to yourself, and focused on bringing value instead of only focused on receiving praise, you got it! Put purpose over status always.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m known for being a multi-passionate woman. I’ve always naturally been very creative so I’m literally always doing something. I recently moved into a new apartment and began documenting the process of me turning my house into a home. This has landed me with opportunities to create content and ads for well known home furniture and decor companies such as Wayfair. I’m known for showing people how to get creative in their spaces and personalize it through products and DIY projects. I enjoy building and painting anything I can get my hands on. I’m still recognized from my skincare content. I specialize in care for oily, acne-prone skin, and hyperpigmentation. One of my favorite accomplishments to date is becoming a TOPICALS Insider. Going from being a fan of a brand to being on their team is a dream come true! What sets me apart is the fact that I’m not afraid to be myself. I am 100% me. I celebrate my differences. My creativity sets me apart. I have great, big ideas. I’m a dreamer and an achiever. I’m a visionary and a go-getter. I am passionate, creative, quirky, insightful, intelligent, ambitious, and some would say I’m crazy. I tailor the world to my liking and only do what I want.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I have the greatest group of friends anybody could ask for! This is about to sound like one big award acceptance speech, but you asked! One of my biggest cheerleaders is one of my best friends, Jas. She’s also a content creator so we keep each other on track with filming and posting. We edit together, share tips and video ideas, etc. Another one of my besties, Steph, keeps me level-headed. When I’m going through a mental battle, she comes ready with scriptures, words of encouragement, and honest advice. My sweet friend Keia! She creates content too and we never miss an opportunity to show love to each other! Her feedback and consistency inspires me to keep going. I cannot forget the support from my Kerr group! (My college family – Kenn, Milly, Josh, X, and Q) I have them to thank for coming up with my username. They literally all came together in our group chat and threw out different name ideas for about an hour until we got the perfect handle for all of my social media platforms. And my dad! My dad is my best friend. He supports everything I do and is the reason why I’m unapologetically myself. Every single person in my life right now is who’s supposed to be here with me. I’m truly blessed to have so many amazing people in my life. I’m very happy with my community. My family!
