Meet Allison Fernberg and Valerie Rhine of Lolly’s Cookies

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Fernberg, Valerie Rhine.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We live in Wichita Falls which is a couple of hours north of Dallas. When I was younger, my mom went on a quest for the best chocolate chip cookie. She tried all different kinds and finally decided to make her own. Over the next several years, she tweaked and perfected her recipe. All of my friends begged her to make her cookies for EVERYTHING.

My younger sister had milk and cookies at her wedding and of course wanted mom’s cookie. I finally convinced Lolly that she needed to share this deliciously scrumptious goodness with everyone….thus Lolly’s Cookies was born. We are a mother/daughter team and spend almost as much time giggling and teasing each other as we do baking. We started with an Instagram and Facebook account in October of 2018. By January we were selling in a local store in Wichita Falls called “Frank & Joe’s Coffee House” and had a website for online orders. In December of 2019 we started selling at Herb’s House Coffee & Company right by SMU. We make ONE cookie. That’s it. It has been called “The Magic Cookie” and we have been told that it “tastes like a bite of heaven.”

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a pretty smooth road so far. We have definitely had some bumps along the way…..neither of us have a business background so we had to get a crash course in small business very quickly. Thankfully, we had an amazing resource in Wichita Falls called the Small Business Development Center at Midwestern State University. Their wisdom in all things business was INVALUABLE. There is no way we would have been successful without their encouragement and expertise.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Lolly’s Cookies – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
“We make one darn good cookie!” Seriously. Just the one. It is a white chocolate, chocolate chunk cookie. No nuts. It has a little crunch on the outside and a soft inside. We have been told (and we completely agree) that it is impossible not to eat every last bite. We have several different sizes of our cookie and one of our best sellers is our large, rectangle Lolly’s Cookie Cake. We love giving new customers a sample of Lolly’s Cookies and watching their faces light up with delight…it NEVER gets old! We have always loved supporting small businesses and shopping locally. We are honored to join their ranks! We are proud of our excellent product and we love sharing the love with others!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We believe that hard work, diligence and integrity are the foundation for a lasting business. Our hope is to get a Lolly’s Cookie into the hands of cookie lovers everywhere!
