Meet Ally McCrory of Pav Yoga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ally McCrory.

Hi Ally, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in the eastern part of Montana and then moved around a bit until I settled in Weatherford Texas. I began doing yoga in a dance studio to relieve stress and get a good workout in. Shortly after, I went through the divorce process and really relied heavily on my yoga practice and yoga community. I was a stay-at-home mom, so I had some freedom (time-wise) to figure out what I really wanted to do to help support myself and my daughter.

I used some money from the divorce settlement to create Pav Yoga in Weatherford. That was almost 6 years ago.

We are now a studio with two locations, Mineral Wells and Weatherford that are both offering a wide variation of class types and amazing teachers with different abilities and personalities.

We are different because we use ‘Agape’ to end our classes instead of ‘Namaste.’ We want you to know that you are seen, you are loved, and you are needed.

It is a community of yogis who love and support each other. That part has never changed!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a roller coaster of a ride! We started very small and grew over time. I felt like it was time to make a few changes in the studio, and it got really bumpy with growing pains.

Lack of finances, not trusting the Lord to take care of me and the studio He blessed me with, lost friendships and instructors, and loss of students are only a few struggles that I have endured.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Pav Yoga has been instrumental in loving people right where they are. Our students come to us with any stressors or troubles and they know that we will listen and keep their space safe in the studio. I have several yoga certifications underneath my belt and am currently almost finished with my 500-hour yoga teacher training certificate.

We are launching our very first 200-hour Pav Yoga Teacher Training in January.

What sets us apart is that we are a Christian-owned and based yoga studio. We work towards helping others find peace and mind-body connection through breath work and asanas (poses). We are extremely active in the community and teach classes at several organizations for free.

I am most proud of my instructors and my students. They are so loving and naturally welcoming. This community is what people need. They need someplace to go that is safe for them to let go in their own space, cry if needed and feel the comfort of friendship and support around them.

No one is ever alone. They are all seen and loved dearly.

We have several hot power yoga classes every day, restorative yoga, and a weighted HIIT yoga class, and get involved in the community whenever we can (yoga outside, yoga fundraisers, yoga in schools for children, yoga for football players, yoga in the water-you name it and we have probably done it!!!).

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Whew, risk-taking. Yes, it was risky to open a yoga studio and not know anything about running a business. All I knew is that I wanted to help, love, and support people. It was risky to open a second location after Covid and in a new city.

As I have gotten older and maybe a bit wiser, I step into situations a little more carefully than I did in the beginning.

With risk also comes prayer, and you will get your answer when you sit down and still the mind for a bit.

So, what do I think about risks? I had to endure several to get where I am today! But my advice is to pray before jumping in.
