Meet Alondra Burciaga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alondra Burciaga.

Alondra, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all started when my brother was graduating from high school in 2017. He needed to get his senior pictures done and I remembered when I was a senior I dressed up went to a nice location and had my parents take my pictures with their phones so I thought, why not do the same except this time, I’ll take them! So, we did. While we were there, I never thought I’d enjoy it so much! After that, I was left with the feeling of wanting to shoot again. I couldn’t stop talking about it and then one day, I was telling my friend I was thinking of taking some photography classes since I was already going to college. I was scared because this was something totally out of my comfort zone but deep down it was something I really wanted to do, and so I did. I was so lucky that in the beginning, my family let me shoot them for practice and that’s how I started getting out of my bubble little by little, and I realized the more I took pictures, the more I fell in love capturing people’s emotions and their special moments.

Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely has not. The hardest part for me has had to be getting out of my comfort zone. There is only so much you can learn at school, or online. At some point, you will want to ask others like you for help or maybe just for some tips. I was so scared of talking to other photographers because my shy self would always think I would get rejected, or that I wasn’t good enough. I had to tell myself many times to get over it and just do it. Yeah, not everyone is going to respond, heck I even got blocked once for asking someone where a location was! But you have to stay positive and because I did, I was lucky enough to come across some of the most wonderful photographers that I am able to call FRIENDS now!

What do you do? What do you specialize in?
I am a Portrait and Quinceanera photographer. I am known for my warm and moody style. What I am most proud of is being able to capture special moments, to give my clients memories that will stay with them for a lifetime, freezing an emotion in a picture, and treating my clients like family is such a satisfying feeling for me.
I always get the “Alondra, you are always so professional.” Oh, don’t let the blazer and secretary glasses fool ya’ll because I warn you, I will show up to your session in some work out clothes and chanclas! I usually like to get the boring over with first then I get too comfortable, I will crack geeky jokes, make you do silly poses and maybe sometimes, I’ll be the one doing the silly poses.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I have to say I love how there is just so many locations to shoot at. Any type of scenery Dallas has it! What I really don’t enjoy is the rush hour traffic. Now, that’s BAD.
