Meet Alyssa Davis

Hi Alyssa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I always knew I was meant to do extraordinary things. I grew up in a small town called Conroe Texas, right on the outskirts of Houston. I come from humble beginnings. Experienced a lot of hard times growing up. My dad became a drug addict and My mom was a single mom of three. I watched her work really hard. I always say I get my work ethic from her. As a kid, I always loved using my imagination and I remember always imagining my family living in a huge beautiful home. I loved looking at houses and imagining it was ours. The part of town I grew up in was considered the bad/rough part of town so I would often use my imagination to getaway! I can’t say that Real Estate has always been my big dream, though. I graduated high school in mid-2008 and moved to Fort Worth with my mom at the end of 2008. Although I grew up in the country and was considered a country girl, I always loved the city. I wanted to move away from small-town living. I left Fort Worth to attend Tyler Junior College in Tyler, TX in 2009.

My major was broadcast journalism. I was actually hoping to be a news anchor lol! Everyone had always told me that I spoke eloquently and that I belonged on the radio or TV so that’s what I pursued. I actually had never taken the time to really think about what I wanted to do. After my first year of college, I returned home in Fort Worth. I got a job working at a bank. For a young adult, I was making good money so I figured I would just work there until I figured out what I really wanted to do. During that time, my life took a slight turn. I became a single mom and I couldn’t go back to college. I was now in survival mode and had to continue working hard to take care of my baby girl London.

I was no longer living for myself I was living for my baby. I started thinking about real-estate towards the end of 2018, when my daughter was a little older. I was ready to stop struggling financially, become my own boss, and create a legacy. I still loved to look at houses, only now I would imagine raising my daughter in a beautiful big home. I’ve always loved serving others and making people smile. After watching some of my favorite top realtors get to put a smile on so many families faces, I knew real estate was the right path for me.

June of 2019, I enrolled into night classes and weekend classes at champions school of real estate. I was determined to be something and someone, my daughter, could be proud of. Fast Forward to September of 2019 and I became a Texas Licensed Real estate agent. I have a goal to be in the top 5% of Dallas agents and I have a goal to help as many families as I can achieve homeownership and teach them that homeownership is not impossible. I want to see lots of first-generation homeowners! Everyone has a story. Turn your struggles into a story of strength. Things will never be a walk in the park, but God will equipped us to get through so that we can testify and help someone else.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road at all. I took the state board exam five times before I passed lol! I was determined. My advice to any aspiring realtors would be to never give up no matter how many times you have to take the test. Passing it the first time or taking it 20 times does not determine the success of your real estate career. Passing the test is just the beginning. It took me a year before I closed my first deal. I bounced around a little, trying to find the brokerage that was best for me. I left a team and started from scratch as an independent agent. No leads no nothing lol! I went to different insurance offices and apartment leasing offices and dropped off my business cards and treats. I started marketing myself better on social media and just began to plant those seeds.

Once you find your brokerage, you have to figure out your flow and your niche in real estate! I felt like I finally found mine. I had many deals that fell apart but that’s the nature of the business, can’t get discouraged you just have to believe in yourself and keep going. I always say that real estate is the hardest thing I’ve ever done but the most rewarding. There were moments I felt like real estate wasn’t for me but I didn’t give up, I stuck with it! It’s always ugly before it’s beautiful!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a real estate agent and I service the Dallas Metroplex. I help clients with services such as renting a home, purchasing their first home or dream home, and I help investors find investment properties. I am known for striving to provide my clients with the 3 C’s. Consistency, Care, and Compassion. I love seeing my client reviews and seeing that the thing that stood out most was my compassion and how much I cared. One of the things that sets me apart in this industry is that I am also a board-certified credit consultant. If I ever get clients that have challenged credit I am certified to assist and educate in that area as well.

What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is not only raising and seeing my daughter happy but also seeing others happy and putting a smile on people’s faces. I love surprising others with Just nice gestures or gifts they weren’t expecting. It brightens people’s day and that makes my heart happy. I love doing random acts of kindness. I’ve always been told I’m too nice. I feel like we just never know what people are going through or facing behind closed doors so it literally costs nothing to just be kind.
