Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Mas-Douglass.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I graduated as a cosmetologist from the Aveda Institute in the summer of 2012, and I have been working as a hair stylist ever since! Since graduating I have finished my apprenticeship and worked at 3 top Dallas salons, before starting my own business in 2015, Alyssa Alexandra Artistry.
Has it been a smooth road?
My professional career as a hairstylist has progressed really well, but the biggest challenge has been transitioning from working in salon everyday to business ownership.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Alyssa Alexandra Artistry story. Tell us more about the business.
Alyssa Alexandra Artistry is an on location hairstyling team specializing in weddings and special events. I feel that I am known for being able to capture and create styles from classic down styles to intricate updo’s.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I feel that as a wedding stylist, my industry is just going to skyrocket over the next 5-10 years as the wedding industry and trends grow. Just over the past few years I feel that the wedding industry and how we style our weddings has just exploded and changed dramatically, as people increasingly use wedding blogs, social media, and Pinterest just to name a few. Wedding professionals come together as whole to create what we call “styled shoots” helping to predict the upcoming trends.
