Meet Alyssa Pipes of SlimThickFit in North Dallas / Plano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Pipes.

Alyssa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
From seven years old, I would be at the track, basketball court, softball fields, practicing and coaching my friends. I wasn’t coaching them because I had a life long dream to be a trainer, it’s just who I was.. if they were willing to put in the work I was willing to teach them. Fast forward through years of athletics continuing that role, mentoring teammates, coaching peers, educating others in the ways of speed, technique, performance, and nutrition.

It was until the Spring of 2016 that I discovered Personal Training and Coaching was even a career based job. Though the second I did, I knew that’s what I was destine to do. As a new 22-year-old mother training allowed me to be a working “stay at home mom.” Not only did my journey to motherhood enhance my strengths as a trainer 1,000 to 1, as I was finally on the other end of the weight scale but it also motivated and fueled my journey.

To be able to be a working “stay at home mom.” Able to have my son with Mr 24/7 through boot camps and training sessions changed my life. It not only provided me a new appreciation for the lifestyle and the grind required to maintain personal health but it granted me the gift of time. Precious time with my quickly growing baby, moments that I never had to miss, and memories to begin a lifetime.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My faith is very big for me, mainly because my life has been filled with such grace and such blessing there is simply no other way to describe it. That being said upon graduating with my bachelors my goal was to become a graduate assistant, I became the Track and Field GA and WIU in the Fall of 2016 and graduated with my Masters in Sports Management in the Spring of 2018. My heart was set on getting back to Texas (my home state) I loaded up my Jeep Liberty, my 1-year-old son, and drove 13 hours to Texas with no apartment, no job, and no family.

One day after arriving we had our apartment, three days after arriving I had a job, and three months after arriving I had my dream job and first real-life professional job at state of the art World Class gym and training Facility Cowboys Fit. Sounds chaotic, sounds tough right? The truth is the struggle didn’t begin until about 1.5 years later. When I left this star-struck job and took a leap of faith. I followed Gods lead and further pursued my own fitness, health, and lifestyle brand + business. To say it’s been easy would be a lie, to say that I don’t doubt myself, teach myself, and fail myself daily would be a lie. Truthfully starting a business may very well be the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Which says a lot being that I was a single mother at 22 years old. Lol, I didn’t expect it to be easy, I didn’t want it to be easy, I want to give every late night, early morning, lost thought, and failed attempt to make my dream my reality. So no the roads not smooth at all, in fact, it’s quite bumpy but it has one heck of view!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about SlimThickFit – what should we know?
SlimThickFit – Empowering others to love and care for themselves unconditionally. The name of our brand embodies each and every body shape and glorifies the natural beauty if possesses. As a fitness coach I train men and women for health and weight management, I train athletes on speed, agility, and performance, and I train kids on healthy lifestyle performances and practices.

With all of my clients, my main focus is health; therefore we cover everything from hydration and nutrition to range of motion and stretch techniques. Each of my clients receives full programming for off-day workouts, weekly meal plans, nightly fitness challenges, and weekly sessions. My priority is to create an environment that is friendly and welcoming for all, therefore, we have group training options- Tuesdays 6am Thursdays 6am 7pm, Saturdays 7am + 10am partner training options- have Alyssa partner you with someone with similar goals and availability to reduce training costs and provide a motivational partner. And one on one training options – train one on one with Alyssa to focus specifically on your individual goals, form, and foundation.

As a company, I am very proud to say our focus is community and our mission is lifestyle. In a world that gets so caught up in the outward appearance and the now. We tend to forget about the beauty and strength within. SlimThickFit prides ourselves on remembering the internal strength we’ve been gifted and personal responsibility we have to help others.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Definitely, heart, to genuinely care in this industry. To not do it for the dollar amount, as a trainer my clients all know how much I care a lot of them I go above and beyond for, to make sure they have what they need to be successful. On all of my platforms, it’s never about money I give things away nearly for free because I don’t want anyone reason for poor health to be that they couldn’t afford it. I don’t care about their weight or body image or how they look in a bikini. But I do genuinely care about their health, their quality of life, and the functionality. Watching that come to life, watching them improve, and watching them get their strength and their life back. There’s no other feeling quite like it.
