Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Crain.
Hi Amanda, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I started doing this really just for fun, I took a multimedia class in high school and loved learning how to use Photoshop and using cameras, so from there it really just stuck with me. I’ve been on and off with photography for about 7 years, I started mostly taking pictures of cows (they’re my favorite animal), nature, and even my nieces and nephews. But it wasn’t until 2021 that it took hold of my life. I was diagnosed with severe Postpartum Depression after having my daughter and I was really struggling to find my footing. So, I picked up my camera and started having photoshoots with my daughter, not even realizing that it was saving my life. I don’t remember much of that 1st year of her life, but looking at those pictures has helped me piece together a lot of what was going on. Now, with the encouragement of my wonderful husband Matt, and my two best friends Sandra and Josh, here I am starting my own business!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There’s definitely been some ups and downs. Trying to get spots booked or having clients not respond back, building a clientele. But there’s been a massive positive response so far, so I always keep that in mind. There’s always going to be a bump in the road, but you just have to keep going.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a lifestyle photographer, and try and do my best just to capture the moment and the real emotion of what’s happening at that moment. I want others to know that when they’re booking with me, they’re in a safe spot. I’m not here to judge, like I said I’m here to capture raw emotions and whatever the moment is giving us! Photography is a love of mine; I want my clients to feel that and now that their photos mean the world to me. I think what sets me apart from others is that I really try and bring my client’s ideas to life, when they book and tell me what they have in mind I try my best to deliver that for them. I think what I’m most proud of brand-wise is that I’m doing a bit of everything, family photos, pets, cars, and whatever is thrown my way.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was a really quiet kid, I feel like. I loved to read and play video games, anime, and animals (all things I still love to this day). I was really interested in National Geographic, I loved reading the magazines and looking at all the photos I’m pretty sure I wanted to work for them at one point in my life.
