Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Moffitt.
Hi Amanda, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Lola & Tae started as a hobby on my dining room table. I’m all about wearing different pieces so I decide to make them myself! I started sourcing different metals/pieces and creating jewelry for myself. Slowly I had friends & women asking me where I got the jewelry, I was wearing so I started making pieces for friends only, and one day I woke up and asked my husband if I was crazy for wanting to start a jewelry business. He has always been my biggest supporter and told me to go for it, so I did. I took some money from our savings and the rest is history. Lola & Tae has grown because of my amazing customers and friends that are always so supportive and share our brand. I am a firm believer in word of mouth and my customers have always proven that.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Owning a small business always has its challenges but I try to learn from my mistakes and improve. I have made so many fellow small business friends and I love collaborating with them and sharing ideas.
During the day, I work as an elementary school counselor and I run my small business after work and on weekends. My biggest struggle currently is time and trying to be most effective with my time while working two jobs. In June 2022, I will retire from counseling and Lola & Tae will become my full-time focus. I cannot wait!

Lola & Tae started as a hobby on our dining room table in 2020 and has grown into a 6-figure small business that I run out of my in-home studio currently. Lola & Tae focuses on quality gold jewelry that women can feel good about wearing each day, wherever life takes them. We currently focus on earrings, necklaces, bracelets and we have recently started making dainty rings. We want you to be completely happy with your jewelry purchases and strive to ensure quality in the pieces we make for you. At Lola & Tae, we are a women-led and mother of three owned small business. We take pride in each piece of jewelry being made and designed for you, where ever life takes you.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In 2022, Lola & Tae is focusing on growth. We have recently ventured into the wholesale world and you can find our jewelry at a handful of boutiques around Texas. Our goal in 2022 is to grow and be a vendor at Dallas Market in the near future. In June 2022, owner/designer, Amanda, will retire from the counseling field and will be running Lola & Tae, full time. It’s truly a dream come true!
