Meet Amanda Morrow of PlantSet Meals in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Morrow.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Amanda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I guess you could say it actually all started when I was about 15, I started working at Sprouts Farmers Market in Southlake and that is really when my health and wellness journey began. Fast forward about five years and the holistic approach to disease reversal and prevention never died in me and I became a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. I went on to work in the gym industry for about three years and that is when things truly started to move towards where I am today.

I noticed my personal training clients were not getting the results they wanted even though they were doing intense boxing and kickboxing classes with a mix of cross training. I have meal prepped for years and truly love food, so I offered to meal prep for a few of my clients.

Family members also inspired me to start this company inadvertently. Many of them are not in the best health and constantly taking pills. I never want to end up like that. Many diseases can be prevented with lifestyle and nutrition choices according to medical research. My father passed from cancer about a year prior to our launch, and I can for certainly say the type of “nutritious” food he was being fed at the hospital was truly disturbing. I was already well versed on nutrition studies for cancer patients, but this furthered my career in providing options for people- especially those with diseases.

Moving on I met my business partner Max McNicol who was going through a Plant-Based Chef Certification and bam forces united!

Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth road in entrepreneurship? Haha, This question always makes me laugh, because honestly if you have a smooth road in starting a business or venturing out on your own, you are TRULY blessed.

Capital is generally in the top 10 of challenges or obstacles. We are are not the exception to that stigma. Especially being under 25 years old, and coming from a single parent household.

Minus the usual challenge, I would definitely say starting a company after the loss of a parent comes with its own set of emotional pitfalls and highs.

As the old saying goes, smooth sailing doesn’t make a good sailor!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with PlantSet Meals – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I like best about our city is how friendly local businesses are to help each other level up! Also, I love how much room for growth there is in Vegan food! It’s booming!

What I personally like least about our city is the lack of efficient public transportation. I use to live in NYC, and that is a huge thing I miss, Any debt I have is revolved around transportation.
