Meet Amber Hamilton Gregg of You CAN Sit With US DFW

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Hamilton Gregg.

Amber, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Oakcliff in Dallas. My mother and father raised me in a Christian household. Education was a top priority for them, I made high grades in school and earned scholarships at every level. I graduated from the School of Law at Townview in Dallas and graduated with a BBA from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX.

Very young I aspired to be an Attorney. And I became just that! Through prayer and support from my family and friends, I graduated from law school at Texas A&M University Law School in 2011 and passed the bar. I have been a practicing full time attorney for nine years. As an Attorney, networking and mentoring is very important. I stepped out of my comfort zone on many occasions with collaborating with other professional women. I was inspired, motivated and more successful. I would never have gotten to where I am without a woman reaching back to me to help me. I saw the need then for an organization, a movement if you will here in Dallas to encourage and inspire more young successful women. I organized You CAN Sit With US DFW with a few of my friends joining as leaders. I have always been very involved in my community so it was a no brainer that I would continue to do so as I reached the next level.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always hardships and obstacles when aspiring to reach any new level. As a full time Attorney, I have to also balance being a wife and mother of two. That goes for many of my attendees and volunteers as well. We are professional women who aspire to gather and give back to each other. With that being said, finding the time is very hard. Planning is hard. But I do my best to get feedback and help while planning so that I don’t have unrealistic expectations for my events, and I get it done.

Please tell us about You CAN Sit With US DFW.
You CAN Sit With US DFW was organized to encourage, uplift and support your fellow professional sister. We host events that bring in a mix of spirituality, fun & crafts, I am proud to have hosted events with collabs from Kendra Scott and The PixelBar Photobooth company. We have giveaways, inspirational speakers and everyone leaves connected to a new inspiring woman.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Prayer and Petition with Thanksgiving to my Lord & Savior is the key to my success. I cannot take credit for anything, it’s all his will that is done. He gives me the motivation, strength and connections needed to continue on with being obedient to what he has put in my heart to do.
