Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Laird.
Hi Amber, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, I always had a passion for makeup, but the small town I lived in, there wasn’t much opportunity. I moved to TX in 2017 with my 9-month-old son with nothing and dream. I was starting from scratch in Fort Worth and started assisting a hair and makeup artist specializing in bridal in the area. I fell in love with it and branched on my own. My beginning prices were pennies, but I needed the portfolio. I started teaming up with another local artist Tess Hevener. I was able to make this my full-time job in 2021 and was featured in Southern Social Wedding magazine. After 5 years of hard work, I am now a co-owner of 2GIRLS1BRUSH Beauty alongside Tess.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all! Starting all over with nothing with a baby. I would call off my regular 9-5 to work weddings. Building a name for myself. Going full-time with my business was stressful. In the end it was totally worth it!

I am a hair and makeup artist. I specialize in bridal hair! We have officially built a team called 2GIRLS1BRUSH Beauty. I am so proud of being featured in Southern Social and this interview too! I think what sets me apart is I entertaining and making people laugh, and I love being relatable.
How do you define success?
I define success with happiness. If you are happy you have succeeded.
