Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Vanwy.
Amber, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We started in 2005 making cowboy boots for working cowboys. Since then, we’ve expanded into a full line of work boots, outdoor footwear, sandals, and comfort casuals.
Our comfort story has resonated and we’ve grown approximately 30% since 2010.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been a struggle. After starting the company, we filed for bankruptcy. We reorganized and that is when our growth began in earnest.
Twisted X – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We’re easily most proud of the organizations we contribute to. We support veterans through the VFW, and Snowball Express, which is a Dallas-based organization that supports the children of fallen soldiers at Christmastime. We also support Tough Enough To Wear Pink, which is contributing to breast cancer programs in the local communities where the events are held. We also just launched a line which is made from recycled water bottles that are cleaned up from the environment. For each pair sold, we’re planting a tree.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Having a company that feels like we’re a family. Sure, we have our issues but at the end of the day, we’re all working toward the same goal.
