Today we’d like to introduce you to Amir Fard.
Hi Amir, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my journey in photography at the age of 19 while studying Civil Engineering at university. Although I successfully completed my degree, my passion for photography continued to grow alongside my academic path. Shortly after graduating, I joined Fujifilm, where I spent over a decade immersed in the world of imaging and visual storytelling. That experience played a significant role in shaping both my technical knowledge and artistic vision.
Throughout those years, I remained deeply committed to improving my craft. By the age of 29, I transitioned into professional photography, initially focusing on family and modeling work, and later expanding into wedding photography—where I found a powerful connection in capturing real, emotional moments.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I used the time to further refine my skills and push my creative boundaries. I began participating in international photography competitions, including WPE Awards, where I achieved Expert-level recognition. I was also honored to be ranked among the Top 100 photographers out of more than 13,000 professionals worldwide.
Today, I continue to evolve as an artist, constantly working to elevate my craft. In addition to my own work, I’m passionate about mentoring and coaching emerging photographers, helping them develop their skills and find their own creative voice.
Photography, for me, is not just a profession—it’s a lifelong journey of growth, storytelling, and connection.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all—photography has never been a completely smooth road. It’s a highly competitive and constantly evolving field. Many people enter the industry with passion, but staying in it long-term requires persistence, adaptability, and continuous growth.
One of the biggest challenges is keeping up with the rapid changes in technology—both in terms of equipment and editing software. To stay relevant, you have to consistently invest in upgrading your tools and refining your skills. Beyond the technical side, building and maintaining a steady client base is another major challenge. Finding clients, earning their trust, and delivering consistent quality takes time and dedication.
There are also moments of uncertainty, especially in the early years, where you’re balancing creativity with the business side of photography. But those challenges have been an important part of the journey. They’ve pushed me to improve, stay motivated, and continuously evolve both as an artist and as a professional.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Amir Fard Photography?

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I see risk as a necessary part of growth—especially in a field like photography that is constantly evolving.
Today, photography is becoming more of a hobby for many people rather than a long-term profession. With easier access to high-quality equipment, user-friendly tools, and even AI editing, more people are entering the field. That makes the industry more competitive and, in some ways, more uncertain.
For me, one of the biggest risks was committing to photography as a full-time career despite having a background in engineering. It meant stepping into a highly competitive space where success isn’t guaranteed and depends heavily on consistency, creativity, and business strategy.
Another ongoing risk is continuously investing in new equipment, software, and education to stay ahead. These are not small investments, but they are necessary to maintain quality and stand out in a crowded market.
My perspective on risk is that you have to embrace it—but with purpose. It’s not about taking random chances; it’s about making calculated decisions that push you forward. In a fast-changing industry like photography, those who are willing to adapt and take smart risks are the ones who continue to grow and succeed.
