Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Ledgister.
Amy, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I began my career in the dental field as a Dental Hygienist. I enjoyed my patients and what I did, but I knew that someday I would become my own boss. I always loved beauty and makeup, but I didn’t know how I could turn that into a full-time career until I discovered Eyelash Extensions. The first time I had my lashes done, I felt so beautiful. Not only was I impressed with the way I looked but with the lash artist herself. She was so nice and seemed to love doing lashes. She worked for herself, set her own hours and was completely booked with clients. I knew right there and then that I had to become a lash artist. I graduated from Lash School and quickly began to grow my clientele. Soon I picked up permanent makeup and I was soon able to leave the corporate world. It was the best decision and I have not looked back since. I realized there was a demand for lash artists and education. Sept 2018, I opened 3D Lash & Brow Salon and Academy, a TDLR approved Cosmetology School.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Opening a school definitely presented challenges, but I have learned so much on this journey. I knew that I wanted to have a school that was flexible for the working adult but still offered quality education. Finding a balance with creating excellent programs was learning process. The school grew very quickly in short amount of time. We started with four students and within a year’s time there were over 30 students. As a Boss and Owner you have to make sure that students and staff are okay. It has not been easy, but God and the support of family and friends has brought me and the school through.

My company name is 3D Lash & Brow Salon and Academy. The Academy specializes in Eyelash Extensions Program, Esthetician Programs, Microblading Training, and Permanent Make-up Training. I am most proud of the fact that our school is at a 100% State Board passing rate. Many of our graduates have gained employment in salons and spas or are working for themselves. What sets us apart is our flexibility in creating your own schedule with our online programs and affordable pricing. We strive for hands-on experience and excellent education. We have the best instructors and our students don’t just learn the basics. We give them so much more advanced training including Lashlift and Brow Lamination, Volume Lash Extensions.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am looking forward to continuing the innovation of the school and expanding our programs to Hair and Nails as well. I see the industry continuing to grow in high demand for Lash Artists and Estheticians and I am so excited to be apart of that process. The industry will continue to advance in technology and education and 3D Lash & Brow will be committed to make sure our students and staff are at the forefront.
