Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Millsap.
Amy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was looking to do something part-time to get me through college, so I went to massage school and ended up working for a chiropractor, I love giving massages so much I made it my career. A few years later, I got hired at Lifetime Fitness in Allen, I worked there for 7 years and I had a very large clientele and decided it was time to go out on my own. I started Back IN Balance in 2013, and I then decided I wanted to do new kind of massage that actually has been around for a while. I am certified in Barefoot Massage and it’s s big hit at my studio. I am also a professional fasciablaster and Connective tissue therapist. I am solid booked in my studio for weeks!
Has it been a smooth road?
No, it has been a struggle, I did get pregnant in 2014 and I had to take time off, and it’s not easy being pregnant and giving massages. I thought I would lose some of my clients and stressed about that but it all worked out. Also, when I first started my business I had to make some new clients and do a lot of marketing, it is very scary at first starting your own business not knowing what will happen. I just kept a positive attitude and really tried to learn new massage techniques to help my clients feel better through Massage. I very dedicate to all my clients and I am making sure they are getting excellent care and the best massage for what’s going on with them. Trying to maintain a good business and family life can be hard too. The struggle is real and it’s been a process to find a balance between it all.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am a professional massage therapist with my own massage business. I specialize in essential oils, barefoot massage, connective tissue therapy, cupping, sports, deep tissue therapy.
I am very proud that I can help people feel better through Massage and I teach my clients to relax and have self-care when they can’t always get a massage. I love my essential oils and I try to educate my clients on how to use them. I think my services are different such as the barefoot massage and the connective tissue therapy that sets me apart from other therapists. I also genuinely care for all my clients who come to see me and they are like family to me.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, Mckinney is a growing city huge! Lots of clients who need massages. There is a huge need for massages and holistic health care in this area.
