Meet Amy Salas of Aesti Amy Skin and Lash Studio in Oak Cliff

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Salas.

Amy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always had a passion for beauty. As a child, I would have pretend photo shoots with my younger cousins. Dress them up in my clothes, do their hair and makeup, the whole thing! My passion for people grew when I started a career in the medical field as a Medical Assistant in Women’s Health.

I worked this field for over ten years and still had that empty feeling like there was something more I wanted to do. So, I planned to bring the two together and get my license as an Esthetician. That planned road changed once I finished and now I’m all about skin, lashes and makeup!

The connections I have with my clients is special to me. For the first time, I feel fulfilled and I just want to spill that into everyone I meet.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have come across obstacles, but I always remember you can’t fail if you don’t quit. I’m a mother and a wife and when I first made the choice of going back to school and starting my own business I missed a lot with my family. I would feel guilty, but I knew it was something I had to do for myself. I’m so happy I went for it and didn’t let fear or negative feelings get to me. Once you’re not afraid of failure… watch out WORLD!

Aesti Amy Skin and Lash Studio – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in brow waxing and shaping, lash extensions, skincare and makeup. “Enhance your natural beauty” is a phrase that comes to mind when I think of my work. Building relationships is the foundation for success in any business. I treat my clients the way I would want to be treated when they come to me for a service. The industry is saturated with so many talented individuals to choose from, so when a client chooses me I am grateful and treat them as such.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
My definition of success is happiness and fulfillment. Of course, we all want money, but for me, that isn’t all that makes up being successful, because even though money can make life easier in certain aspects it cannot buy you the most important parts of feeling successful.
