Meet Amy Shackelford of Sedona Productions in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Shackelford.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My mom baked wedding cakes before I was born and I loved going to work with her and I would help unload icing and all of her tools before receptions. During the reception I would help clearing the dishes. I didn’t realize I was learning the business until I was actually in it! My Sophomore Year at TCU in Fort Worth I was the Recruitment Chair for my sorority and I planned our local chapter’s Rush and studied Marketing. The next year I was in charge of TCU’s full recruitment, the largest event on campus at the time. I knew I wanted to plan events or in my head “tell people where to go and what to do there”! I started as an Intern for the The Fort Worth Club in the Spring of 2000 and moved my way up the corporate ladder, moving to the City Club Fort Worth in 2004 as Catering and Marketing Director. In 2011, I made a huge transition to a privately-owned venue on the west side of Fort Worth. While here at Sedona, I have founded 4 divisions and each year our revenue and systems are improved.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I love events because they always present an opportunity to create solutions – each event is something different. Building a team, structuring an organization and managing people creates adventure. My progression through my career has been positive for the most part. The challenge has mostly been trying to eliminate the boundaries of my personal and professional self – I truly desire to be authentically me in and out of the office. It wasn’t until my position at Sedona Productions, where I am able to do so. Any challenges are always met with my will to succeed and my support system behind me!
