Today we’d like to introduce you to Anaïs Avilez.
Hi Anaïs, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Being a life long musician, singer, and performer music is always something I have done. Until, one day I was on the verge of abandoning it. What really helped me get started on this path was a near death health crisis that made me face all of my unrealized dreams. I left the hospital knowing I never wanted to live without doing what I loved. At the time I was working a project management job that was so physically draining it nearly killed me. Not long after that experience, I decided I needed to leave and take a risk on myself. Since then, I’ve released 7 singles and now about to drop my debut EP this November.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would hardly call nearly dying, almost abandoning my dreams, and a three year law suit a smooth road. When I left my corporate job I had to rediscover who I was, on top of recovering my health and following through on a retaliation law suit. Thankfully all of those things helped me launch myself into the life of my dreams now. They helped me build resilience and showed me that suffering doesn’t have to be the end of my story.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an opera singer turned electronic pop artist whose inspiration comes from subconscious messages through dreams. Almost every one of my songs comes from a dream or daydream I have had. They deeply influence my music and visual artistry and help me push the envelope as to what is seen as pop music. I love to experiment with my sound and pull heavily from my classical background.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as having full autonomy over my own life. The joy and freedom I experience from doing what I love while actively creating is something truly sacred to me.
