Meet Andie Ibarra of Dallas Animal Chiropractic and Dallas Acupuncture and Chiropractic in Lakewood/Lake Highlands

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andie Ibarra.

Andie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Having been a ballet dancer for well over a decade, the physical stress of the activity was starting to wear me down. I started to develop severe back pain and at the time, the only type of medicine I knew was Western, traditional medicine. I spent years suffering from unresolved back pain and after various visits to medical doctors and taking all the medications that doctor after the doctor prescribed to me, I knew there had to be another way. It was then that I really started to study how the body is self-healing and if you nourish it, it will thrive.

I graduated college from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition. I went on to graduate from Parker University with a Doctorate of Chiropractic in 2017. My interest in holistic healing did not stop there. I received further training in acupuncture and specialized in cosmetic acupuncture, a holistic approach to beauty and wellness.

My passion for animals led me to become certified as an animal chiropractor. Having grown up with many dogs my entire life and learning about their different diseases and injuries, I felt there was a need for animals to receive this type of care and not enough animal chiropractors to provide it.

Half of my practice is treating people with chiropractic and acupuncture, and the other half is animal chiropractic. I love helping people and animals learn about all the benefits of alternative medicine and love being a part of their healing journey!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wish it was a smooth road! Starting two businesses right out of school takes a lot of time, mistakes, and learning as you go. I would say the biggest struggle is the business aspect because in chiropractic school they don’t really teach you about business. I’ve had to ask for a lot of business advice from people I know, attend many seminars, and read many business books. I also didn’t realize exactly how much time it takes to build your business and build your clientele.

Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a Doctor of Chiropractic and licensed to practice Acupuncture and Animal Chiropractic.

At Dallas Acupuncture and Chiropractic, I focus on healing people from within by utilizing acupuncture to balance the body and level their energy. I also specialize in facial acupuncture that is awesome for skin issues such as breakouts, blemishes, redness, inflammation, rejuvenation, and aging. You can definitely see a glow right after the treatment. Regular acupuncture sessions are extremely effective for anxiety, stress, sleep issues, hormonal issues, and pain. I use a combination of chiropractic and acupuncture to ease pain and increase joint mobility.

At Dallas Animal Chiropractic, I strictly do chiropractic on animals that are either aging and having joint issues such as arthritis and stiffness, or on animals that are injured, limping, slipping and falling, as well as on performance animals wanting to win their athletic competitions or shows.

I feel what makes my businesses unique is that both your pet and yourself can get treatments that heal you from within while also making you feel good and young!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moments have definitely been helping people and dogs avoid expensive and invasive surgeries.
There’s a time and place for medicine, but I love it when people and animals are patient enough and willing to give these holistic treatments a try!
