Meet Andre and Jennifer Williams of Remember The Covenant

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andre and Jennifer Williams.

Andre and Jennifer, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In 1997, we were a pair of college sweethearts, who fell in love, were married and quickly found that we didn’t have a clue about what it took to sustain a marriage. Not understanding our roles as husband and wife, we began to experience life issues, disagreements and challenges. Add that to having babies and the true disconnect in our relationship appeared like cracks in a sidewalk. We experienced hardships early on because of secrets, past hurts, frustrations, and dysfunctional family issues. Those experiences led to miscommunication, sexless nights, anger, rage and infidelity, which pushed us to the brink of divorce. This repeated cycle went on for years. It wasn’t until we changed our environment by moving to Dallas, TX, and found a viable ministry (Koinonia Christian Church) that helped to shift our thinking about marriage and strengthened our relationship with Christ. We were disciplined by our Pastor, Dr. Ronnie Goines and his wife, Nikki Goines, who helped us save our marriage.

During our discipleship training, our leaders saw in us what we could not see for ourselves. The sleepless nights, the endless tears, the heart-wrenching confessions and finally, forgiveness were worth it. After months of training, studying God’s word, and prayer we were equipped to share our growth and renewed relationship with others. This process was arduous and is still a work in progress even today. We continue to grow by increasing our knowledge of each other and how best to fortify our marriage for the long haul. Once the rose-colored glasses came off, we were able to see our flaws and all. With time and much prayer, we were both willing to accept that we needed deliverance to be made whole through Jesus Christ. That was when we experienced a breakthrough in our marriage. Because of our surrendering to the will of God, we heard his whisper, share your testimony; and Remember the Covenant was birthed. A ministry designed to educate, motivate and encourage couples in the understanding of God’s sovereign plan for marriage.

Has it been a smooth road?
No, the road has definitely not been smooth. We have overcome past hurts, a lack of acceptance, and the inability to understand each other. We have worked hard to rebuild the kind of trust that allows us to fall in love all over again. We are most thankful for the testimony that has led us to have a marriage with God at the center.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Remember The Covenant – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud and what sets you apart from others.
We don’t consider ourselves as a business but a ministry discipline other couples as we allow our marriage to be a display of God’s redeeming grace. We offer an open forum dialogue to assist couples with connecting and cultivating their marriages through Covenant Conversations. Covenant Conversations are held monthly and cover an array of topics: Positive Communication, The Needs of Men and Women, Sexual Fulfillment, and the 4 P’s: Priority, Pursuit, Possession and Purity. What differentiates our ministry from others is even though infidelity could have ended our marriage, we both took ownership for the role we played in the breakdown of our marriage and knew without any doubt that God truly is the glue that holds us together.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We love that variety of career opportunities, our church family, and the array of social activities for married couples and date nights.
