Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Alvear.
Andrea, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was working in Houston at a local CarMax and I was a recent college grad and a newlywed. I got a degree in merchandising from the University of Houston and after graduation, I was finding it hard to get a job within my field. At the time, my husband was on the hunt for a new job as well and ended up getting one with the city of Allen which caused us to move to Dallas in a rush. I transferred to the CarMax in Plano and after many online applications, I landed a job at Fossil Group as a sales coordinator. I was at Fossil for two and a half years. It was a really great company and I learned so much in my role and I worked with some really great people.
The person who actually hired me at Fossil ended up leaving the company to go work for Jack Black men’s skincare. A new position at her company opened up and she reached out to me to see if I’d be interested in applying. I decided to take the chance and was ultimately hired on at Jack Black! I have been here for the past year and I couldn’t feel more blessed!
Has it been a smooth road?
It was definitely not a smooth road! Life after graduation was very tough because I was submitting what felt like a million applications only to receive rejection after rejection. After a year of going through this process, it was becoming very discouraging and was beginning to affect my mental health.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
So, as I mentioned before, I now work for Jack Black men’s skincare company. I was initially hired as an account coordinator, and I was actually just informed that I was promoted today to an associate account manager, working with different national retailers like Dillard’s, Amazon and Sephora.
We are the #1 best selling men’s skincare brand and we specialize in products that really range from head to toe. We have facial, beard, body and hair care products. We only use the best ingredients and our products do not contain parabens, harsh sulfates and are never ever tested on animals.
