Meet Andrea Hutchinson of Lady Faye Cosmetics in Little Elm

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Hutchinson.

Lady Faye Cosmetics was created by Andrea Hutchinson, a wife, mother, and entrepreneur. Growing up, Andrea was teased for having dark skin and “big lips.” As a result of the teasing, she avoided things that brought attention to her insecurities like makeup, especially lipstick. After noticing her daughter was dealing with the same type of teasing, she decided it was time to step out of her comfort zone to help build her daughters self-esteem.

Andrea began doing things she normally wouldn’t, like wearing brightly colored lipstick and embracing her insecurities instead of hiding from them. She quickly found out that not only did she absolutely love wearing lipstick, but she also loved the confidence it gave her to express herself. She found her voice and wanted to help other women do the same by stepping out of their comfort zones. Thus, Lady Faye Cosmetics was born. While using lipstick to connect with women, she makes sure she uplifts and motivates them to be the best versions of themselves.

She affectionately named her company after her mother, Myrtle Faye and dedicated it to her grandmother Lillie B.   Andrea takes pride in giving women the “outward” confidence needed to express their “inner” voices.  Her favorite saying is “Don’t concern yourself with societies  standards of beauty, DO YOU BOO, because everyone else is already taken.”

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Entrepreneurship isn’t for everybody. It takes faith and determination to look past the obstacles and negativity. When starting my business, I was told repeatedly that my market is over-saturated and it would be difficult to set myself apart from other established brands. My response has always been and will continue to be.

“Nobody can be me better than me!” People buy into you before they buy a product you’re selling. I believe in being myself unapologetically.

I believe there’s room at the table for everyone! You just need to show up hungry and ready to eat.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Lady Faye Cosmetics – what should we know?
My company is Lady Faye Cosmetics, all of my products are paraben free, non-comedogenic and allergy tested. Currently, we carry super pigmented lipsticks and lipglosses. We are currently working on expanding the line to include eyeshadows and other cosmetic products.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Without God none of what I do is possible. My husband, Prince Hutchinson has been my rock, my shoulder to lean on, my sounding board for ideas, and one of my biggest supporters. Without my husband’s encouragement, Lady Faye Cosmetics would still be a dream.

Behind every successful woman is a group of women cheering her on. My mom, Faye Nolley is the Captain of my squad. She doesn’t allow me to slack off on anything and makes sure I’m doing things right the first time. The co-captain is my business bestie Asa Smith, it’s good to surround yourself with like-minded people to keep you focused on achieving your goals. My brand strategist Sabeina Harris gave me the marketing foundation to start effectively promoting myself and my products.
