Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Overturf.
Andrea, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Loubies and Lulu came about as a creative outlet to share my passion for fitness, style, and healthy living. The name is a spin on two of my favorite brands!
I started blogging in 2012. Fitness has always been a part of my lifestyle and especially so as a mom, for my health, energy, and stress relief! My son had just turned one, and my daughter was in elementary school. I wanted to do something that would allow me to be creative while being a stay at home mom. I had no idea I could truly develop it into a business! I’ve always loved writing so I thought it would be an enjoyable way to connect with like minded active women!
At the time, I was into active clothing to wear for workouts, but also transitioning those pieces into casual outfits as well (still am!). Athletic wear had just started to become much more fashion forward! Back then, I was an avid reader of lululemon-centric blogs, and I wanted to do something similar yet expand on the fitness lifestyle in relation to style and healthy living…
I like to connect with my readers and share how we incorporate these elements into our everyday life. After completing my first Whole30 in 2013, I experienced a huge shift in my health. It’s become a popular, integral part of my blog content, leading me to become a Whole30 Certified Coach!
Fitness is a family affair for us! My husband is the co-founder of The Move Project, a Dallas based fitness company. Being active and healthy is something that brought us together initially and has continued to be an essential part of our lives, a tradition we hope to pass along to our children.
Breaking a sweat and the feeling of accomplishment that follows a great workout makes me happy! The consistency of having a fitness regimen has been a source of strength for me over the years. Whether I’m working out at the gym or hiking in the beautiful mountains of Northern New Mexico, movement brings me joy I feel inclined to share with others!
On my blog you will find style inspiration for workouts and wherever your day takes you! I love sharing favorite active wear brands and workouts and discovering the latest and greatest. You’ll find plenty of Whole30/Food Freedom inspiration, motivation, and the occasional recipe.
Connecting with like minded creatives is something I love to do so you’ll also find fun collaborations on L&L. I also enjoy highlighting my favorite local and travel destinations to explore, and this year adding home décor and design as we remodel our family home…
Has it been a smooth road?
No! But I have learned a lot along the way and wouldn’t change a thing! I did not have a background in anything technology/photography/blog related when I started. I’ve had to learn as I go and ask for help when needed. My friend, Stephanie of Joy Creative Shop has been an inspiration from the beginning, helping me through her design services when I started my blog and continuing to support me/my site over the last several years! Stephanie Drenka has also been an inspiration to me as a friend, fairy blogmother, and photographer.
My journey has been a learning experience, about blogging and about myself! I’ve pushed myself past comfort zones and come out of my introverted shell, and I’m so thankful for that. Most importantly I’ve met wonderful people through blogging and community connections this job has provided!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Loubies and Lulu – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
