Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Reiter.
Andrea, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
About a year ago I started voicing my interest of modeling to my mom I wasn’t sure if she was going to agree with it or not but I figured why not try it out. One day out of the blue my mom told me about this model group called Alabama Fashion Alliance that was having an open casting for runway models. Me and my mom sat down talking about what I would need to do and practice but to also not get discouraged about this dream of modeling if I didn’t get chosen for this opportunity, after we discussed everything she took me to the casting and later I got an email saying I was chosen to be a model for them.
From then on I was able to work with local designers in the Huntsville Alabama area and learn about the modeling world which sparked more of interest for me. When I moved to Plano back in August, I got a little discouraged because I had to leave the amazing group I was a part of and start from square one, so I decided to do what my mom did and start joining different modeling groups on Facebook. One day as I was checking these groups I noticed a notification saying that someone had invited me to a meet and greet at a studio in Dallas, so me and my mom talked again and decided to check it out. From that meet and greet I was able to network with, stylist, MUA’s, photographers, and other models which really helped me get back into the modeling world and get where I am right now working with many great artists that I am truly blessed to be working with.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, unfortunately, it hasn’t been the easiest. My goal right now is to be represented which has really shown me the challenging side of the business and what it means to be denied. I’ve met with a couple of agencies and have been turned down for being too short at a height of 5’6″ I don’t plan on letting that discourage me and I’m still determined to find that agency that’s right for me.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am currently a freelance model so I collaborate with many artists around the Dallas area within the fashion industry. I think what sets me apart from the others is my personality I may come across reserved or shy but I truly have such a passion for what I do that when it’s time to make some amazing art I love to communicate throwing out ideas and give my 110% to whatever I’m doing.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career is getting published on the cover of MMMagazine. I collaborated with a photographer named Tim Bracey and a makeup artist named Luli mills (amazing people!) and we came out with great pictures that we really put our creative minds to and seeing it published made it 10x better.
