Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Rosen.
Andrea, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My Journey started far from where I am today. I grew up in California, near Hollywood. Being so close to the movie studios, my first big job was at the Universal Studios theme park. I had the opportunity to work in a variety of capacities during my 15 years there; starting as a line employee in the park, Park Supervisor, Training Manager, Special Events Coordinator, Guest Relations Manager and finally an Executive Assistant. Each of these jobs helped develop a specific skill set. The one common theme in all of these jobs was customer service and learning how to interact with different personalities.
When my second son was born, I was fortunate to have the security (Thank you dear husband) to quit my job and stay at home with my kids. I loved being home with the kids. It was one of the hardest and most rewarding experiences of my life. But, my biggest “customer service” challenge during those years was making sure we had the right Goldfish crackers and the crust was cut off the sandwiches… Believe me…with son #3 you did not want to mess that up… Lol
A little over five years ago, my husband and I made the brave decision to move our family to Frisco, Texas. It was scary and exciting. After the first week, I knew I found my place. Normally very introverted, I stepped out of my comfort zone and joined a few moms groups. Within a short time, I connected with some amazing women who enriched my new life in Texas. One special group of women were from my youngest son’s school. It was with them the Balloon adventure began.
We went into business together and learned a lot. There were countless hours of laughter while we prepped the balloons, some very early mornings delivering jobs and a few crazy U-Haul truck stories. With some hiccups here and there, we worked for 2 1/2 years together. Over these years, a common pattern was occurring. As much as an organization or a person wanted balloons, our price points were beyond their budget. I was especially affected by the charities, non-profits and schools that could not be accommodated.
In September 2019, I decided to go solo and form Fit 2 Be Tied Balloons. It was scary and exhilarating. It was a decision that I was only able to act upon because of the support of my Husband, Family and Friends. Going on my own gave me the freedom to provide in a more philanthropic capacity. I am now able to have a dialog with these organizations to see how my balloons could draw attention to their events, while still running a profitable business. I once again can say my customer/client service is back in action. I love the rewards and challenges that each new job brings.
I am now living in Prosper, TX with my husband, Chuck and three sons (Noah-19, Ethan-15 & Adam-10) and a small menagerie of animals. I love my town and the connections I am making as a business owner.
Has it been a smooth road?
Has this been a smooth road? Heck no. But, is my heart happy? Everyday. Being the sole proprietor of my business has given me the freedom to take the steps I feel necessary to build my business. The professional relationships I nurtured over the years have been a huge source of support and confidence. They have put trust in me on the journey to independence and we have continued to collaborate in events big and small.
I have come to believe that it is up to us to create our moment. Don’t wait around for things to change or improve on their own. Complaining about a situation does nothing but feed into negativity. Make a choice and take action. Most importantly, follow your heart.
Tell us more about the business.
My vision for Fit 2 Be Tied Balloons is to offer accessibility to everyone. I love everything about Balloons. The colors, the designs and the emotions they evoke. Balloons have come a long way from the standard helium filled bouquet. Now you see balloon structures in movies, TV shows (Hello, Fuller House), Celebrity social media profiles and online publications. But, the misconception is that the beautiful balloon structures are only for those with over the top budgets. Balloons make an impact, whether it is a giant balloon wall or a small garland. I want to work with clients and find their Balloon impact without breaking their budget.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The Balloon industry is at a peak right now. A few years ago, there were no other local balloon businesses. Now, I could name a dozen. The fabulous feature of balloons is they can serve so many purposes; from decorations, photo backdrops, center pieces, etc… The only limit is our imagination. Let’s be honest, it’s not a party unless there are balloons.
