Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Simon.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always been around cameras throughout my life. My father has been a photographer for over 50 years. I loved being in front of the camera and posing. It wasn’t until 2013 when I became interested in what was behind the camera. I learned about lighting, composition, and how to work with different cameras all by watching videos online and taking photographic workshops around the United States. I love every minute of it!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Working for myself can be difficult because you have to hustle for work. The work is never consistent so it’s a constant battle with networking, shooting and the aftermath of sorting images and editing.
Please tell us about Andrea Simon Photography.
I specialize in family, graduation, maternity, and engagements. What I try to expand is my modeling agencies shoots and working with fashion designers to shoot their lookbooks. I am most proud that I have tripled my income since I first started a few years ago.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood is learning how to do the moonwalk to Michael Jacksons’ Billy Jean in my socks and fluffy baby hair. I’m happy to say I can finally do it!
