Meet Andres Ruiz of World Champ Training in Carrollton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andres Ruiz.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Andres. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
World Champ Training was established with a vision and a lot of faith!

October 2006, I enlisted in the Armed Forces and served as a United States Marine. My decision to serve was to work on becoming the best version of myself. The structure and discipline helped mold me into the entrepreneur I am today.

While on reserve duty, I began training student-athletes part-time for no charge. As the number of athletes grew, I knew I had to offer more structured programs. Realizing the potential of our students, I along with help from close friends established a summer football camp and later a summer 7 on 7 football team. In 2010 and 2011, we placed 2nd and 1st respectfully at the state tournaments.

After the success of my football program, I had a vision of becoming a certified personal trainer and sports trainer. This is when the idea of opening World Champ Training as a stand along gym was established. November 2011, I opened up a small personal training studio with an emphasis on sports, weight loss and bodybuilding.

I began with a small clientele and began to network and establish myself as a well-rounded trainer helping individuals become the best version of themselves. Word of mouth and social media platforms helped establish a clientele base of over 600 who have trained under my direction at World Champ Training.

2013m I outgrew our first location and opened up a larger facility in Carrollton, Texas. This new facility allowed World Champ Training to offer more services as well as give other aspiring personal trainers a gym to build a clientele base.

Last year (2018), World Champ Training expanded from 2,000 sq/ft to 4,000 sq/ft. My vision has always been to offer one location for all training modalities. With this expansion, we did just that. Now, World Champ Training is growing a healthy membership base while still offering quality personal training services for all kinds of individuals with all kinds of fitness goals.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Owning and operating a small business which provides services (in this case personal training) requires your availability to be open all hours each day. Most people work a standard 8 am – 5 pm job meaning personal trainers are scheduling clients 5 am, 6 am then working with clients 6, 7, 8 pm and on. Managing a clientele base each day, creating training routines, working back office duties along with marketing and other business functions can consume your days. Being able to manage your time properly is critical and one of the struggles I’ve faced.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’ve set myself apart like a well rounded personal trainer who is personable and effective training individuals to achieve their own fitness goals. For me, it’s all about the client and the vision they have for themselves. When it comes to sports training, I’ve been known to be as tough as they come. My goal is to prepare our athletes to become successful by providing them the knowledge they need and strengthening their bodies to run faster, jump higher, hit harder and so on.

All training facilities in the area are one dimensional. Meaning they offer a standard gym, locker room, etc. World Champ Training is not your average gym. This is where you actually train to become the best version of yourself with the available equipment and tools to achieve that success.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I never would have imagined I would serve in the military or have the privilege to manage a gym. I assume many kids have role models who they strive to become whether it’s police officers, doctors, astronauts, etc. Honestly, I didn’t know where or what I would be doing as a kid. I attended college pursuing a business degree and thought becoming a CEO would be an attainable life goal because of my organizational skills.

My hobbies revolve around my passion as a personal trainer. I currently competitively compete in local and national level bodybuilding contests. In order to do this, I train six days a week and with the assistance of my wife meal prep all meals to ensure proper nutrients are consumed. I’ve placed first at the NPC Texas State Championships in men’s physique (2018) with plans to compete in several other larger venues in 2019.
