Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Dicker.
Andrew, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born and raised in Spring, Texas. Growing up, I enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, lacrosse and basically anything that was challenging. From there, I went on to attend Sam Houston State University where I studied Accounting and Business Administration.
After deciding I wanted a career that was more exhilarating than Accounting, I started to look around for different opportunities. Eventually, I was led to the sales and marketing industry. I worked for several years at a startup, where I learned a lot about the industry, sales, account acquisition, and new business development. I loved working in an industry where I could help people and also be able to challenge and develop myself.
In 2018, I launched KJD Business Development in Dallas to help with new market expansion for a nationally recognized client. My team and I are excited about the opportunities for growth and development in the region.
Outside of work, I pursue my passion for stand-up comedy. I’ve been featured on shows with John Melendez (writer for Jay Leno) and Jo Koy. I also enjoy traveling, working out and cooking.
Has it been a smooth road?
I have a lot of friends in the teaching industry and I’ve always said how difficult it must be to always be patient with kids. I always get the same response, “Teaching adults is way harder.” I never really thought about until a friend put it into perspective by saying, “Teaching adults is more difficult because they have preconceived thoughts and opinions. With kids, you can just raise your voice and tell them what to think.” Initially, I laughed that off but I can see how the part about teaching adults is true. Shaping the minds of young entrepreneurs, teaching them how to think, the right habits. That was definitely one of the biggest challenges but it has also been the most rewarding.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
