Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela McNeal.
Angela, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I basically got started with my business because I was interested in all things beauty. But I knew that I didn’t have time to go back to school for Cosmetology. So I just started looking around for things that would not take a lot of time for me to get certified in. I decided to get a certificate in Mircroblading and Ombre Brows it seems to be a booming business. Then I thought well that can’t be the only thing that I can offer.
So I decided to start my own lash line as well. But I also felt like that wasn’t enough so I decided to get certified in eyelash extensions. And from there I decided to use social media as my platform to start building my business. Even though I am not where I want to be, the business is starting to take off. But my true inspiration came from my son who is now 19. He is a barber and he started out slow but he now has one of the largest following because of his talents and his know-how to use social media to build his brand.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road because it takes a lot of time and effort into building a business especially if you still work full time. I would say my biggest struggle has been building my clientele. But it’s growing slowly but surely.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Gela Bella Lashes and Brows – what should we know?
My primary business is Ombre brows. I specialize in helping women who don’t have eyebrows or don’t like the ones that they have, I try my best to make sure they are happy with what I can provide. Also, I walk them step by step on the process as I go.
Because that helps clients feel comfortable with you. I have been to a lot of places for services and I don’t feel comfortable because they are used to doing services but don’t explain to me what they are about to do to me, I am most proud of the relationships that I have built along the way. I feel like what sets me apart from other companies is that I am home-based and I give them the privacy that they need.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
As I stated before my son is the one that really helped me make the final decision on doing this home-based business. Because he actually started his business here and he is doing great. Also, my husband has been one of my biggest cheerleaders as well. He has been there every step of the way. But I will not leave out my clients because without them there would not be Gela Bella.
