Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Morrison.
Angela, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was contemplating starting my own business as far back as 2005 and quickly realized I would need plenty of capital to start anything worthwhile. I was working as a Project Manager for a very large company at the time.
I’ve always wanted to work in a creative industry. I love to draw, grew up around my father’s colorful sign shop and have always had a creative streak. I made a couple of attempts at other businesses that didn’t work out. First a pet products business and then a western art business. Those were great learning experiences though.
Finally came the time to make the leap and take the big risk. I withdrew my retirement savings, took out a loan on equipment and started Zilla Wraps in January of 2014 with just 3 people. Over the last 4 years we’ve doubled our revenue year over year. We now have many loyal customers and a team of 11 full time employees.
I love what I do and try to always hire employees who are passionate about our business and excited about what we do as well.
Has it been a smooth road?
There have been some challenges along the way. It’s very hard to find good employees, I have found the best way to find great people is word of mouth and referrals from my trusted colleagues and family. The other challenge has been adjusting to the long hours and intensity of effort required when you’re running your own business. All the reward is yours, but that means all the risk is yours too which can be a lot of pressure. I have learned the hard way that it is very important to rest and take time off.

Zilla Wraps specializes in custom wraps for cars, trucks, vans, buses and walls. We do advertising wraps for small businesses including custom design and color change wraps for luxury cars and sports cars.
