Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelena Morris.
Angelena, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m the youngest of 6 siblings from a small Texas town. I worked for my father, who owned his own accounting practice, from the age of 12 until he passed away when I was 15. So I’ve been doing debits and credits for better part of my life! Of course, I was too young to take over the family business. I went on to college after high school first at McClennan Community College then on to a University of Mary-Hardin Baylor on a basketball scholarship. I received both my BS in Accounting and MBA with an emphasis in Accounting in 2000.
I spent the next 15ish years as a corporate accounting in mostly the energy sector. After 4 1/2 years as a Controller for Fulcrum Power, I chose to move into the insurance sector where I worked as an adjuster and within 3 years I had moved up to a trainer/manager position.
In 2016, I married my beautiful wife and gained 3 amazing, bonus children. We soon realized that it was time to put down some roots in my own accounting business in an effort to get a better life-work balance for our family. Thus, Morris Tax &a Consulting, MT &C, was established in January of 2017.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
MT&C has been a blessing for my family since the get go. The company hasn’t been in operation for even a year yet, and I find myself trying to manage the growth to ensure a quality family life.
I strive to grow, but at a manageable rate and not at the expense of my family.
I don’t just want clients. I want to find “partners in crime”. The crime being, beating the overwhelming odds against the low-middle income from bettering their financial situations. I truly just want to help folks be in the best financial health possible.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Morris Tax & Consulting – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
MT&C is a no-nonsense, unintimidating outfit. The company is here to be of financial service to its clients in any way possible. Sure, I have to make money to operate. But I strive to make sure the money spent for my services is adding value to my client’s financial goals.
I work with the client to find cost-effective and money growing opportunities in their life. There is no job to small, nor overwhelming. I find that most of my clients are overwhelmed with their financial situations, and feel immediate relief when they hand over the task to me.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
One of the main goals is to get more bookkeeping business from small businesses in the area. And convincing small business owners of the value in timely management reports to help with decision making will be one of the strategies to promote growth in bookkeeping.
My most lofty goal is showing individuals and families the benefits of having an accountant available for everyday financial decisions.
Sure, you can hire me to do your taxes or to prepare a budget for you. But MT&C has a business model to alleviate some of those costs and have access to that financial expertise more readily.

I’ve know this young lady and her family since we moved to Hubbard in 1971. Her dad was our accountant and he guided us and our little grocery business through all the complicated tax laws. You couldn’t ask for a finer Christian family, every one of whom is an asset to Hubbard, or wherever else they hang their hats!
