Meet Angie Blue of Chandon Arbors a.k.a. The Chandon in Keller

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Blue.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Angie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am originally from Pittsburgh and came to Dallas and stayed because of the Wedding & Event Industry in DFW. I worked at an all-inclusive wedding venue for almost three years, I did my first wedding in 2007. I opened my own wedding planning business Black Diamond Weddings, founded in 2011. I also sold for a couple other venues along the way while offering planning as well.

I’ve wanted to be in the is industry ever since I was a little girl. I was that six-year-old kid who planned my own birthday parties, lol – you can ask my mom. I love NON-ROUTINE, and every day is completely different. Plus, I have made lifelong friendships with some of the best industry professionals in DFW. I probably would’ve never met them otherwise. Being at weddings truly is a fulfilling career. You leave an impression on a couple for the rest of their lives – not a lot of people can say that.

I’ve always had in the back of my mind, a personal career goal to be a part of a new venue from the ground up. I was cold called by the owners of Chandon Arbors – completely out of the blue. They saw my skill set on LinkedIn and asked for a meeting with me. They called me on a Friday, we met that Sunday and the rest is history.

Even though we are a new venue, we have a “Team” of experience professionals & we all have worked together for years. We share all of our preferred vendor’s information on our website. No one else does that. Plus, my background as a planner, the real estate & interior design backgrounds of the owners, and the fact that it is luxury & truly going to be gorgeous – you can’t beat it. I have almost 12 years experience in my field & have done over 400+ weddings/events.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I always say if you don’t have “haters” you aren’t growing. Definitely a lot of learning curve at the beginning, and as you gain more experience you learn how to not take things personally – as weddings, especially are high emotion days for people. You gain the patience of a saint, lol.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Chandon Arbors a.k.a. The Chandon is a new luxury wedding & event venue opening in Keller, TX. Most of the new venues are out in the middle of nowhere and we are right in Suburbia. 🙂 I am the General Manager – and have been honored to create the whole footprint in our wedding industry for The Chandon. I handle the marketing, social media, created our pricing packet/offerings, tours, networking, utilized my personal industry connections to create The Chandon Team – all of our exclusive & preferred vendors, etc,
I am most proud of the footprint we’ve created so far in our industry, even though construction is not complete yet. A lot of excitement and support is stirring from our industry peers. We all can’t wait for it to be complete.

Don & Cynthia Hennig are the owners. One of the best power couples, I have ever worked with/for. The Chandon began as a dream of Cynthia and Don Hennig in 2014. After planning their daughter’s wedding, they realized a need for a luxury venue in the DFW area that delivered a high level of service and a southern charm feel located close to hotels, restaurants, and airports. They also believed a need existed for an outdoor and indoor venue that could be customized by each bride and groom couple for their big wedding day. They have backgrounds in Real Estate & Cynthia has 30+ years of experience as an Interior Designer. The Chandon won’t look like a cookie cutter venue.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Patience – seems to be my life motto. Lol! “Calm is my superpower.”
