Today we’d like to introduce you to Anita Crethers.
Hi Anita, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing up, I was always a creative individual. I liked to write, draw and make stuff like doll clothes, dioramas, and collages. When I was making things or doing poetry was when I was most at peace and happy. As I became a teen I didn’t draw as much, but my poetry became my passion; however, I never stopped crafting. Writing and decorating became more than just a hobby; it was a stress reliever because at the age of 13, I lost my mother, and by the age of 17, I was homeless and the mother of two. I realized that these things helped me find my safe space when I felt like I needed time to get my thoughts together. I honestly knew, even as a teen, that one day I would use my creativity to provide for my family but never really knew how. It wasn’t until college that I discovered that decorating and making spaces beautiful was just my creativity manifesting itself differently. I found joy in helping planning parties, decorating events, and creating custom gifts. I was good at it and volunteered every chance I got. And let’s not even talk about my children’s birthday parties which were always extra when it came to putting them together. It wasn’t until 2019 that I decided to invest in myself and start Anita’s Arrangements. This was my chance to use my gift to create opportunities for me and my children. I started offering special events, decorating, and custom gift services.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to entrepreneurship has not been very smooth. It has been a journey to building clientele and booking consistent work, but I have continued to work hard and improve my skills and services. There is definitely no shortage of business in the special events space right now. The competition is fierce, but what sets me apart from the crowd is I work with my clients, and I care if their event is exactly what they wanted. That’s why my slogan is Anita’s Arrangements. We help make your moments special. For now, I work a full-time job and run my business, but I know one day, I will be able to do this full-time.

Anita’s Arrangements is a special events decorating business. We specialize in balloon decor like balloon garland, balloon arches, balloon walls, and more. We also offer table setups, backdrops, centerpieces, and customized decoration. Anita’s Arrangements is known for putting a little bit of pop into every party prepare. What sets this business apart is that we actually care if our clients are happy with their experience and their special moment is enhanced by our work.

What matters most to me is creating something that I can leave my children. Something that is not only a piece of my legacy but something that will help build generational wealth and help support them and their families. I am determined to provide a future for them that is full of opportunities.
