Today we’d like to introduce you to Ann Badmus.
Ann, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a partner and head of the immigration section of my law firm. We have over 60 attorneys who help businesses and individuals meet legal challenges. For 25 years, I have helped thousands of immigrants get the legal permission they need to live and work in the United States. Before joining my firm, I owned and operated a boutique immigration law firm for 20 years. I started my firm in Delaware and moved it to Dallas in 1998. Because immigration is governed by federal law, I am able to help clients nationwide. My firm gained a national reputation and I was named Minority Business Leader in 2009 and Top 25 Women in Dallas in 2012 by Dallas Business Journal. In 2016, I joined Scheef & Stone as a partner and immigration section leader.
Immigration is the American way and keeps our country strong by the positive contributions of our immigrant business owners, professionals, advocates, and community leaders. That’s why it is a great honor for me to represent and advise immigrants, businesses, and employers nationwide.
I am passionate about immigration and consider myself an advocate for immigrants. As part of my advocacy, I founded the Immigrant Journey Awards to spotlight outstanding immigrant contributions. I also founded the Immigrant Entrepreneur Network and the DFW Global CoWork to foster and support immigrant entrepreneurship in the U.S. I am also a member of New American Economy and the City of Dallas Welcoming Communities and Immigrant Affairs Task Force.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Most of the challenges have been balancing family and work but I am fortunate to have a supportive husband who is truly a partner. But I really can’t complain of any significant professional struggles.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Scheef & Stone – what should we know?
Scheef & Stone was formed by attorneys who have worked in some of the nation’s largest law firms but wanted to serve their clients from a more personal setting. From the beginning, our focus has been on providing high-quality representation to each client, regardless of the size or nature of the representation. We have continued to grow by attracting attorneys from diverse practice areas, most with large-firm backgrounds. Our attorneys have experience resolving complex commercial problems for their clients but have chosen to utilize that experience in a more flexible, efficient environment. Our structure and the experience and integrity of our attorneys allows us to provide the highest quality services with service levels not typically found in larger environments.
As an immigration attorney, strategist, and advocate I help:
–U.S. businesses cut through immigration red tape and execute leading-edge hiring strategies to win the global competition for top talent.
–Highly qualified immigrants get legal residence in the United States to achieve their professional, business, and personal goals.
–Families unite together and settle in the United States.
