Meet Ann Marie Wilson of x-SITE-d in Garland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ann Marie Wilson.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It was a bit of a strange journey. I needed a website back in 1997 for my clothing pattern line, and since I was a self-described geek even then, decided to tackle it myself. How hard could it be, right? Well, it turned out a lot more involved than I envisioned, and that was without the e-commerce aspect.

There were a lot of long days, late nights, aspirin, research – so much research, and a fair amount of sanity questioning, during the month it took me to create that first graphics-filled website.

But you know what, I loved it! When it was all over, both sides of my brains were having this mad celebration party – no one felt left out. All I could think was that I HAD to do it again, and that, was the defining moment.

Over the next few years, I expanded to accompanying print work, business cards, brochures and other related pieces.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Normally, every move is smooth until there is a major technology bump. Think of the e-commerce explosion, the animation for everything craze, or the separate, scaled-down mobile websites. Now we are rebuilding existing websites as fully responsive, to work on all platforms.

The main struggle of course, is outsourcing. That has hurt small, independent businesses, more than probably anything else has.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with x-SITE-d – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
x-SITE-d only works with small businesses, non-profits, organizations, and HOA’s.

Because we are small, we understand the struggles the small, and very small, business faces. We help the non-technical person or neophyte, feel comfortable – they do not have to fully understand what we do, but neither do they have to feel intimidated by it.

When we build a website, all the SEO (search engine optimization) features are automatically included; this is something we have done from the start. It will help that small business get off on the right foot with Google. Another service that is included, is polishing up- and making your copy/content website friendly.

It has been 20-years since we started creating websites, and we are still here. There is no outsourcing of work, nothing is pre-built or utilizes a drag-and-drop methodology such as Word Press. Every website is built for that individual client, based on their specific needs. We know every client by their first name, their families, pets, even where they went on vacation! It might sound outdated, but over time, that client becomes more than just a client.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Looking forward, we will keep changing, adapting, and learning the newest technologies. So much has transpired over the past 20 years, I cannot wait to see what more we can accomplish.
