Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Asberry.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Most of us had dreams of childhood. Mine was to become a professional athlete of some sort. Although the particular sport wasn’t defined, naturally and readily, I pursued my dream.
While in elementary school, I played football from streetlight to streetlight with other kids in my neighborhood and noticed early on that I had a lot of speed. I was recruited by tackle leagues when I got old enough to play flag football.
Being the fastest player on my middle school football team, I flourished as a wide receiver. Unsurprisingly, I was a starter and somehow always got the ball. I made the football team all three years of middle school. In eighth grade, I also made the basketball team and won that year’s state championship with my team.
My passion for basketball outshone my interest in football on entering high school. It amazed me to learn, years later, from the son of one of my coaches that a Division 1 football team had their eye on me while I was playing middle school football. No one ever told me that as a kid.
I began playing high school basketball right from my ninth grade year, but I was cut from the team as a sophomore. This broke me. I tried my hardest to prove that I was good enough. My parents knew that I was good enough, and so they met with the coach who agreed to videotape me during practice. As expected, I was brilliant, but the coach broke his word and never showed the video to my parents. The scar of this experience remains with me until today, but I never gave up.
My passion drove me to the nearest public recreation center where I continued to work on myself. There, I met an awesome coach who saw my pure talent for what it was and recruited me to play in a men’s league – the basketball program of Youth Services of Tulsa. I won six tournament championships in a row with my team and was the Most Valuable Player for two of those years.
While in college, I was deliberate about focusing on my education, but even so, I took part in intramural sports to maintain my competitive edge. Each victory helped me keep my dream alive.
Over the years, I stayed driven, kept in shape and learned to channel my drive to make myself better in every facet of my life. I basically lived in the gym, working on myself tirelessly. Several times, I questioned my resolve: Why am I even doing this? Why do I keep on going so hard?
Then, on the morning of my thirtieth birthday, I woke up fed up. I took a long, hard look at myself in the mirror that morning. I visualized myself as a superhero. I yelled at the top of my lungs, “I’m ready, Creator! I’m ready!”
Fast forward six years later, I was at the gym as usual when a guy and a girl approached me thinking I was training for a bodybuilding competition. Meanwhile, at the time, I had no intention to participate in any professional contest. Next thing I knew, the guy offered to help me train to compete.
It was 2017. After training for eight weeks, I contested in my very first bodybuilding competition – the Ronnie Coleman Classic – and took first place in all three classes.
This experience propelled me to compete at a national level and win my IFBB pro card as an all-natural professional bodybuilder in men’s physique.
Well, it’s safe to say that I’m living my dream as a professional athlete, and it’s now well-defined. I’m a pro bodybuilder! And while a lot of my fellows use enhancing formulas to boost their bulk, I choose to maintain the natural path. The statement, “Health is wealth,” is more than a cliché to me. It’s my creed. Fitness should make you healthier and not push you to indulge in things that are ultimately damaging to your health.
Here’s my word of encouragement: Go to the gym. Push yourself. There’s a superhero in all of us. You just have to be willing enough to reach for your true potential.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road to total self-discipline has been extremely difficult. For most of my adult life, I have been addicted to sugar, salt and fat. I lived off Taco Bell, McDonald’s and Little Debbie Snacks. I didn’t realize the longterm impact on my health because I didn’t feel sick but I had no energy. I wanted to feel good inside and out so that’s when I decided to change my diet.
Fueling my body adequately is my hardest personal challenge to conquer. I struggle with not being hungry but I know in order to grow, I have to eat more often. I have to overcome this every day and it is very HARD to do!! I continually struggle when grocery shopping. I prefer to eat the cookies, candies, fried chicken and salty, fatty packaged foods. I’m learning to cook for myself and meal prep using crockpots.
I struggle with balancing when to rest and when to work out. Training as an all-natural bodybuilder is mentally and physically exhausting. Sleeping is very important for my muscle recovery and growth. Sleep is very difficult when the muscles ache, the tendons are tender and the joints are sore from hundreds of reps. I use the BEMER to enhance my circulation and regulate my energy, recovery and sleep.
I struggle with support from family and friends.
I struggle with those who do not understand the stress and strain I put on my body to build AmpMuscle naturally. I have to go ten times harder in the gym to maintain and build my physique.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with AmpMuscle Get Ampd – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Dallas has a diverse culture. The city’s willingness to expand. The cultural shift of attitudes. The development of art in Dallas. The gentrification of downtown Dallas. The feeling of Dallas as a living, breathing organism. I love the green in the city with grass, flowers, plants, and trees all over the metroplex.
I do not like the traffic!!
